The topics that are big right now in the field of information technology are social media platforms and data privacy. These are two topics that I would like to explore further in the field and get a much better grasp of what they mean in the future and how they will impact us. Social media is a major focal point because it represents a pivot from the past and is a turning point on how businesses will market and attract customers in the future. It is a stepping-stone, as the last step was customers going to the website. Before the website it was television adds the customers were gravitating towards. Social media marketing in information technology is the next step in the digital evolutionary process and this is why it interests me going forward …show more content…
These two aspects of information technology rely on one another to better the long-term prospects of a company and to ensure its long-term profitability. The social media aspect of the information technology field relies on customers getting the right information, receiving good customer service, and having answers to their questions, comments, and concerns in a timely manner. Data security plays a part in this because logically, if a customer placed their business with a company, they would want their information secured. If there data is not secured and there is a breach regarding whatever various circumstance it may be about, the company at hand may be in for a major reputation hit if the data breach story is not handled properly in the medial channels, especially social media. Data security and social media in the information technology sector of companies may not appear related, but go hand in hand in making sure the company achieves at the highest level, which is why the link between the two is interesting to look into and
Any number of contemporary critics of mass media and technology have come to the conclusion that no single topic of late has attracted more attention than the rise of social media in its many different forms especially the potential impact of social media on the news. Mitchell, Rosenstiel, and Christian (2012, p. 1) pointed out that “if searching for news was the most important development of the last decade, sharing news may be the most important of the next.” Social media consists of a variety of discrete yet occasionally overlapping media vehicles including Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Other social media with specific purposes include dating sites, sales platforms, blogs, YouTube, and so on. These media vehicles
The media can let people express themselves in many different ways. Small businesses, personal accounts, and corporations benefit from social media in many different aspects, “ Reach your customers better, create online networks, sell and promote your products and services. You can also use social media for advertising, promotional giveaways, and mobile applications” (Business Gov). Social media provides businesses with a valuable tool to connect with customers, promote their products and services, and build brand loyalty. By using social media strategically and intentionally, businesses can achieve a range of business goals and grow their customer base.
My idea came from watching a documentary on how prisons and jails in Europe have a different approach dealing with inmates when being punished for a crime they did. This place was in Norway, their jails are actually treating their inmates with gratitude. Erwin James (2013) labeled Norway jails inmates “live in conditions that critics brand 'cushy' and 'luxurious'.” These amazing jails have positive results because they have the least reoffenders in the world. The results of my topics should be positive, the reason I say this is because it been tested out in different countries and they had amazing results.
When social media first was created amongst the internet big companies like Pepsi, Taco bell or IBM never had social media accounts. It was not until the improvement amongst the internet within smart phones that made people become “internet streaming connoisseurs”. Resulting in people always having their face glued to their smartphone screens using social media apps, surfing the web or just streaming videos. Eventually once big companies created social media accounts to promote their material and keep tabs on their consumer’s interest within their brands the advantage of social media emerges.
Social Media and Privacy Social media has always had problems with privacy issues. Facebook has a court case regarding a person’s privacy. Snapchat had problems with the Federal Trade Commission. Linkedin’s first amendment right defense was denied. When it comes to social media, it does threaten individual privacy, because it cannot guarantee one hundred percent privacy and confidentiality: it collects private messages, photographs, emails, locations, phone numbers, and et cetra.
Obesity means that human body has an excess amount of fat, caused by environmental and genetic factors. A Body Mass Index is a measuring tool for obesity, the body mass index of an obese person is 30 or more. Also, there is another tool to measure obesity which is the waist circumference, women waist circumference of 35 inches or more is considered obese, and for men 40 inches or more is considered obese. There are many diseases are considered consequences of obesity such as heart diseases, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, obstructive sleep apnea, high cholesterol, some cancers, and gallbladder diseases. There are many factors contributed to obesity.
Advancements in technology have been a leading contributor in shaping the world to what it is today, enabling us with many new techniques at which we can communicate. These technological improvements such as cell phones, tablets, laptops, and social networking sites have come to life at our fingertips, enriching our communities with new advances and new approaches for communication. It has demolished the barrier among us, allowing us to communicate with anyone in the world more directly and quickly. Technology is rapidly augmenting unity amidst communities, ultimately making people aware of events occurring around them. These communities consist of people who care about each other’s well-being, and these individuals lend a helping hand when
I do not believe that there is an overall, empirically provable and universally acceptable answer to this question. Globalization has many dimensions: • The world is not a single unit of study in the context of globalization. Balancing the net costs and benefits across countries, regions, cultural, economic and other blocs is not feasible other than in a statistical sense, and the interpretation of statistics is associated with values and other contexts; • Balancing the net impacts across differing globalization themes – economics, environment, health, education, culture, social mobility, etc. is also value-laden; • It is not possible identify the relative effects – i.e. what would various countries have looked like today without globalization;
There has been an increasing impact in the role of arts in the lives of people after the 20th century, among a wide range of activities, such as arts therapies, music, drama, performance, dance, and visual arts. Art and culture is seen to illuminate the inner of life and enrich emotions, or physical and mental health. Arts in general could save our historical identification of our ancestors; it could be the mirror image reflecting the future of the following generations. Participation in arts create knowledge and it could reduce some criminal activities. To understand how important arts are to life, firstly, it is necessary to investigate the impact and benefit of art to make industries in each national sectors, namely economy, health and
INFORMATION Social media has to be one of the greatest developments of human history. It has connected humanity like never before. It has changed the way that people do business, with companies providing their own social media accounts to interact in real time with customers. We can quickly see what’s going on in our communities and around the world.
Everybody cares about social media today. To say that social media is significant today is even an understatement. Communication between people has become so easy nowadays thanks to the use of Social Media. People are able to communicate with one another even if they are in different countries from each other. With the use of internet social media allows its users to transfer information and computer files to their friends and family (Veerasamy, 2013).
Social media was created two decades ago and has developed a lot since 1997 when it had first made an appearance in the world. Before social media many people did not have a way to communicate or interact with others using electronics, everything was verbal or written. When social media first made a blogging page it became a hit as told by Small Business Trends, “In 1999, the first blogging sites became popular, creating a social media sensation that is still popular today.” Social media has made an impact in many people’s lives throughout the years. After blogging was invented, social media exploded with popularity.
2. Literature Review Below is an overview of Information Communication Technology (ICT) The background and objectives of this study were outlined in chapter one, inclusive of research questions and research significance of the study. However, this chapter intends to present literature reviews, knowledge and other information relevant to the theme of this study. Two articles, “Social Media and the Big Data Explosion” and “When Big Data Meets Social Media,” have given insight to how companies use big data in the realm of social media. The articles describe how consumers use social media as a pathway to secure a purchase. The YouTube video “Socialnomics 2017” introduced an interesting fact stating that “93% of buying decisions are influenced by social media.” That percentage is surely something that stands out. With that much online buying power, businesses have taken advantage of that very statistic, by pulling in as much data as they can about their customers.
Introduction Information management is a term that is commonly be understood as the act of collect, store and manage information to be used for different purposes. Although the development of social media is not included in three big changes in the technological industry which have changed the way information is managed and used that are: the popular use of mobile computing, the growth of “Big Data” and, the development of Cloud Computing (Laudon and Laudon, 2016), social media still brought not less advantages to users via its applications as it enables users to communicate and share information more effectively and efficiently. Thus, it is a topic that worth to be research of how information management is changed with the development
