Within the modern and high-tech society of today, much of the world relies on social media and digital platforms to progress itself towards further development in the inevitable age of tomorrow. However, much of what people reveal online about themselves is accessible and used by many different governments and corporations. This is one of the risks development and technology pose for many nations worldwide. Due to the amount of easily accessible knowledge online this risk is a cheap price to pay. In addition, the evermore present idea of the “shrinking globe”, gives way to an expanding horizon of communication between peoples and nations. These realities, along with the benefits to education that digital platforming pose, all highlight the …show more content…
It is the notion that as media expands, the world supposedly becomes smaller (Gasher, Skinner, & Lorimer, 2016: 6). Societies can connect via the internet within a matter of mere seconds. Governments can pass legislation throughout a large nation such as Canada, as well as communicate amongst one another and form unions similar to the United Nations. Similarly, friends can use social media to connect across the globe using platforms such as Blackberry Messenger and Facebook Messenger. As Marshall Mcluhan stated, communication technology can be considered an extension of a person’s body and nervous system (Brey, 2000). Accordingly, the globe has adopted technology as an extension of its communication resources. This shrinkage of space and time makes once lengthy and complex tasks become far quicker and simpler as well. In the comfort of their own homes, individuals can go online and blog, shop and sell goods and information. These tools allow people to have more fulfillment in their lives by allowing them more time to focus on multiple societal issues over short periods. With the increased usage of internet on more handheld mobile devices in the last half decade and the increase in social apps on these platforms such as Skype and WhatsApp, it is becoming far simpler to communicate even while travelling (Statistics Canada, 2013). These all encompass the “shrinking globe” and lead to a massive increase in human productivity. This is one of the benefits of lost
Discussion board In the modern economy, innovation is becoming a key ingredient for success. Investors pay for innovation and it accounts for the economic growth of most countries. Innovation is therefore important in business but it can also be a distraction if not properly managed. Improper management of innovation can lead to excess consumption of resources and even delay most projects.
Technology, especially smartphones, has played a key role in encouraging connectivity between people all over the world. Snapchat, Facebook, and instagram allows us to keep in touch with our friends and family (Document 1). Never before in human history have we had this level of connectedness with others. Smartphones also allow us to have answers to any question we might have, which gives us the opportunity to transcend the boundaries of what we previously believed conversations to be and talk about the real issues; what we make of these facts (Document 6). Having this freedom to develop our conversations gives us the chance to further our connection with people and truly understand more about them.
Robotics in the workplace has seen recent strides across multiple businesses and industries. New technology has paved the way for new possibilities for the implementation of robotics in multiple fields. International Data Corp forecasts a growth of about $135 billion in the robotics industry by 2019 (Gaudin, 2016). There are a few factors that are causing new technology and machinery to become a more viable option that it was in the past. These factors are the main supporters of growth of the industry.
Many business organizations use social platforms with an aim of promoting their products and services online. This is because online platforms have the ability to reach a wide audience than other mediums. However, businesses that make decisions to go with or to integrate social networking in their marketing strategy have to deal with a number of problems that can result to negative impact to the organization if they are not addressed appropriately. Bad reviews from the customers are major concerns for companies that have integrated social networking. The bad or negative reviews by the customers of the company that use the social network could negatively impact the company and reduce its competitive advantage in the market environment.

I do not believe that there is an overall, empirically provable and universally acceptable answer to this question. Globalization has many dimensions: • The world is not a single unit of study in the context of globalization. Balancing the net costs and benefits across countries, regions, cultural, economic and other blocs is not feasible other than in a statistical sense, and the interpretation of statistics is associated with values and other contexts; • Balancing the net impacts across differing globalization themes – economics, environment, health, education, culture, social mobility, etc. is also value-laden; • It is not possible identify the relative effects – i.e. what would various countries have looked like today without globalization;
How many countries do you think to manage with the democracy? In the present world, there are %45 countries are independent. It is clear that they are happier and freer than the others. Moreover, it is very important that democracy is a part of our life because there are some important thinks about the democracy. If the country does not manage with a democracy, it may lead to starting some negative effects such as how people trust their government, how people choose who will manage, how to get agreements with the other countries.
1. What are satellites used for? Satellites have literally changed how people act, think and work. The world relies on them for almost everything since it is capable of providing us with accurate warnings and threats.
There are many significant developments covered in this theme, such as discoveries, changes in thinking, or research advances. The developments that I consider to be the most significant and really caught my eye in this theme are health and wellbeing, climate change, economy, and Dr.Victoria Lavis research from University of Bradford. Health and wellbeing are now concentrating on preventative medicine. Using the principles on behavioral and social sciences, we are looking not for an individual change but a need to change as a whole system (Michie, 2015). Climate change is a very important topic that has an impact on everyone.

The World’s Social Network: Staying Connected and Informed, Together as One In chapter 7, “Global Netizens: Social Media’s Role in Social and Political Change”, June Johnson sheds light on the impact social networks has on the world’s social and political changes. Some of the key terms discussed in the chapter include, social media, prosumers, netizens, iPod liberalism, global digital divide (GDD), virtual private networks (VPN), mass society, and public society. The stakes here are the potential use and manipulation of social media. The stakeholders are the general public that shares the same interest of participating in these social networking networks. In the thinking visually portion, Johnson includes a picture of an African child that is mimicking a phone by using a brick instead to expand her purpose of the chapter.
Over the last couple years, gaining the status of a global city has become something that is sort after by cities. According to Sassen, a global city is defined by how a city responds to globalization, and if the city has strong economic functions that create trade opportunities with other cities. Cities implement vast number of changes to ensure that their city gets the global attention it deserves. These changes then in effect create vast number of inequalities in the city. Other alternative forms of developments have appeared to give urban residents a better alternative than a global city like a just city.
The media has been growing significantly over the last decades. The media, consisted of the TV, internet, radio and newspapers can and have already influenced many individuals. Nowadays more than 3.17 billion individuals have access to the internet and can use it to communicate with each other even when geographically distant, use it for education and for entertainment. Two subjects in society can control the internet, one is the government and the other one is companies/corporations like Facebook, News Corp, Time Warner etc.
Intro The physical education classes of today are still based on participation and dressing out; and, at the end of the semester or grading period, the students are tested cognitively. This is very confusing, and frustrating for physical education teachers. Also, in some counties, the students know the physical education exam doesn’t even matter for them to graduate. I have even heard of teachers even losing their jobs because of these unfair requirement towards the physical education department in the school system.
