Although Fight Club is about American society, this interesting and at the same time complicated movie makes all of us to think again what controls us and why. In general, the movie attacks modern America by showing that American society lives under the standard moral and religious principles. In fact, many issues including fighting, loneliness, and freedom from society were discussed in the movie. The main themes and some technical aspects of the movie will be analyzed in this essay. Starting from the opening sequence, first together with a dark scene a classical music sounds and suddenly it is interrupted by the loud music which creates a creepy environment. If we pay attention the technical analysis of this part, the camera angles and lightening effects show many aspects of the movie. The environment including dark and wet street and shadows warns the watchers for coming danger. Mostly, the long shots were used in this scene. In the 36 th minute, the changing mise en scene highlights the difference between two characters Jack and Tyler. While Jack’s apartment looks ordered, Tyler’s environment is quiet messy and weak lighted. The visual aspects in Fight Club are consistent to the main theme of the film. The usage of the dark lightening and the gloomy colors is helpful to convey the idea of the movie. Changes in lightening and colors also help to represent the insane nature of the character. The low key lightening in the movie creates impressive shadows. Camera angles are crucial in the scene where the narrator bets up brutally.
