In the program, we have initiated to what I consider the “second phase” of 2nd year field placement. The process came by really quick, in which to a moment I felt unprepared. It is amazing to think how quick time is flying. It is simultaneously exciting but nerve-racking. This semester has been a really tough one. However, I have learned a lot about myself. It is important for me to recollect what I have learned and be confident going into the interviews. My goal is to recollect my strengths, my weaknesses and areas of improvements as it will allow me to prepare myself for the placement interviews and give me the confidence to stand out and demonstrate my professional experience. I believe that the way you present yourself is how other will see you and what you have to offer. Readiness and time-management is a work in progress but it is also a skill that most, if not all, agencies took for especially because social work is a demanding career path. In taking these extra steps, I’m mentally organizing myself and also creating skills that work for me. In field placement, we are expected to apply our social work skills gained and articulate in how our skills that can be valuable at their agency. When I am nervous, I tend to forget everything including skill sets that I have to offer. But as I am able to take on the task, I can meet the expectations and properly prepare myself to present what I have to offer. My goal for next week is to begin the contact process and scheduling. Furthermore, the agencies would also like to know what knowledge we have obtain in regard to theories and it is important for me to make myself aware of what I have learned on campus and implement the theories to potential

SCI411 Academic and personal development Portfolio: Part 1 From not being in education for a few years, being able to recognise my own academic skills, strengths and weaknesses was quite difficult. However, over these first couple of weeks in lectures my learning strengths and weaknesses have made themselves apparent. In this role, I advised customers on various make up, skincare and fragrance products. I used my expert product knowledge to build a rapport with the customers, and efficiently, accurately and confidently advise customers on their specific needs, ensuring every customer left fully satisfied with their experience. I developed a high level of customer service skills alongside effective communication of information. I worked both individually and alongside a team to maximise sales, exceed targets and build a client base. This role required a high level of motivation and enthusiasm which I successfully brought to CHANEL.
In this paper, I will assess my identity and my personal history and how it relates to social work professions. I first address my personal history and cultural background, where I came from, as well as my experience in working in the community. I then talk about my overall strengths, both in personal and professional lives. My strengths are listening skills, open-mindedness, respect for diversity and eagerness to learn and improve my weaknesses. After reflecting on all that you have learned in this course, share what you believe is one current trend in the human services field in meeting the needs of individuals, families, and/or the community. This course has been a revelation for me. In the past eight weeks, I learned many things about running a nonprofit organization, and I am sure I will learn a lot more. There are so many different elements that goes into managing an organization like how to build capacity, funding/budgeting, assessment tools, the role of the board of directors, and past/current trends in the field.
Throughout the community in which I was raised, many negative connotations and stereotypes surrounded the ideas of social service provisions, particularly such programs as SNAP and TANF. Many people in my community made the assumption that a majority of people relying on government assistance were simply abusing the system in order to get extra money. Judgments regarding the color, gender, and religion of these people also spread, resulting in racism, sexism, and other discriminatory beliefs and practices. The limited perspectives shown to me through news networks and magazines colored my own views of the social welfare system. The process of reflection has been used for many years in professional health fields such as midwifery and nursing (Lillyman. S & Merrix. P, 2012). Florence nightingale pioneered the practice known as reflection-on-practice, this is a tool that is needed in developing improvement and knowledge to enable an individual to grow in their nursing profession.
Childhood should be be filled with memories of happy times, love and warmth. Sadly not every child is blessed with a stable home life and parents who care about the overall well-being of them. Child welfare social work is a field of social work that makes sure the child’s needs are met. Being a social worker you work with children and families in need. It’s a hands-on job combined with a necessity of being able to handle a heavy workload.
Over the semester I have learned many new aspects of social work that have helped deepen my understanding of what social work is really about. This course has taught me things that will help me become a better person and will also help me with my future working with children. Self reflection is a key skill to have when working in social work. We need to understand how we are, and our social location, influence everything we do with social work. My beliefs and values would be beneficial for being a social worker because I have a caring no judgment, personality that allows me to be a neutral and to listen to people.

In this part I will review myself, about what have I done and what can I do, so I can be closer to my vision. As I have mentioned in my current situations I have strength, weaknesses, opportunity and threats. My strategy is that I want to maintain my strength, overcome my weaknesses and threats and take advantage of the opportunity. My strengths are my calm and observant personality.
Over the past one and half month, the class of PDE 502 (Counselling and Career Education) has taught me some major lessons for life in dealing with the clients in response to their emotional needs. The role of a counsellor is not unlike that of a friend where by it is nurtured by being in each other’s company, talking over everyday issues and sharing feelings. However, what sets a counsellor apart is their experience and the ability to apply counselling theories and techniques to assist people in gaining awareness, insight and explore ways of solving their own issues.
