Fate In The Alchemist

Fate In the book “Freak the Mighty” there are lots of events that involve Fate. Including when Kevin and Max are reunited. That was not luck in my opinion that was fate. Also when freak dies, it was bound to happen eventually and he was going to die no matter what anyone thought.

In the story, the author shows the importance of perseverance, and how to face the many obstacles that people are presented in their lives to complete their goal. Fate is defined as something that simply just happens or “Falls upon your lap without any help or actions”. It’s a gesture that is not thought about because when it come it just come without your inner thought or “permission”. While freewill is the opposite, it’s defined as something you as a person caused upon yourself, the actions you did was the reason you are in the situation and you can’t blame anyone but yourself, it’s thought of as the inner consciousness of a person or the permission to give one’s self. Fate is the predetermined outcome of a person's life. It is said that one cannot change their fate and I believe that to be true. Romeo and Juliet were predestined to die at the beginning of the play and they did. However, These events could have been changed. The actions of Romeo and Juliet are the reason they died, incorporated with their fate with their fate.

The Alchemist by Paul Coelho is a novel where a young man, Santiago, goes on an adventurous journey to find his treasure he saw in a dream. He begins his expedition with a trip to meet with a gypsy to discuss his recurring dreams; she gives him the information to where the treasure exists. Along the quest, he meets several people that influence his trip giving him the answer that he has to find himself before he finds his riches. Do you believe in religion or luck, or are you simply a person guided by science and mathematics. The Alchemist, a novel written by Paulo Coelho speaks of such ideas as fate, religion, and omens predicting the future. The book, due to its use of logic and ethos provides valid reasoning to support the idea that people are not in control of their own fate. Nearly every religion in the world is based on a being that can control or influence one’s fate.

Santiago was shocked by what he saw in the oasis because it is not like what he was imagined. At the same time, he thinking about his treasure and from his observation the things became more difficulty when he getting more to his treasure. For the next day, Santiago and the Englishman wasting almost entire day in order to find the alchemist. Suddenly, Santiago suggest to ask the people who lives there and that was the way he found his love, Fatima. At that time, Santiago learns the language that everyone on earth was capable of understanding in their heart.

The book's main theme is about discovery of someone's fate. The Alchemist is "more self-help than literature." An old man tells to Santiago that, "when you really want something to happen, the whole universe will unite so that your wish comes true. " This is the main philosophy of the novel and a theme that plays all during Coelho's writing in ‘The Alchemist’. The change in this book is that we should never give up in order to achieve our dreams.

Fate refers to the givens of life, those aspects of existence that are undisputable, unstoppable and unavoidable, and over which we have no control. We were born into life without any choice or responsibility in the matter. We are born into a world at a biologically predetermined time, in a particular place, to specific parents, of a certain gender, and with distinctive strengths and limitations. Therefore, we cannot hold ourselves responsible for fate. Destiny is different than fate.
