Fiction is needed to develop other forms of thinking and to expand creativity. Fiction novels could help students view things from different perspectives. It may help us in a similar situation from the book for example,in the book “The hate u give “ by Angie Thomas there is a situation with police brutality and the way he handled it can inspire others to do the same or we could see where it went wrong and not do that. A young African American male is shot and killed by a white policeman. Garden Heights residents come together in the face of unspeakable tragedy which reflects the strong sense of community felt by those who live in Garden Heights. The school board needs to reconsider removing fiction because we’ve learned that we need to come together in our communities to speak up for what we believe in.
We need to all have come together in our community no matter how tragic the situation is. Towards the end of the book Starr and her friends work together to rebuild Mavericks store. Thomas wrote that to reflect the strong strength of the community. This is another example of fiction inspiring us to come together as one. Also Maverick is really determined to help DeVante get out of the gang system, because

The way Starr Learns how to be accept herself and be herself could help other people that also feeling the struggle of not
Fahrenheit 451 should be allowed in all high school curriculums because the certain situations of this book that may be found inappropriate, add context and depth to the book that allows the reader to understand more about it. Though readers should get a disclaimer before reading it because of certain crude situations. Although these some situations found in this book may be crude or inappropriate they add great context, and depth to the book. This book really opens readers eyes about what the future could be like and how it might affect themselves.
It is hard for her to realize that her family is more fortunate than many other black family’s. As time goes on, Cassie gets a better understand of segregation. Eventually, Cassie realizes that having a place of one 's own results in a feeling of security and pride. In order to keep the land, Papa has to work continuously to get enough money to keep the land.
Anytown School Board, 11,300 books have been put in question for possible removal since 1982. The School Board is trying to make it so that the book Fahrenheit 451 is not a part of any school curriculum or read on campus by students. While parents do have the right to decide whether or not reading material is appropriate for their children, it should be a choice that affects their child only, not the entire population of students. I feel the banishment of the novel Fahrenheit 451 is unjust and is explicit censorship. An important reason we shouldn’t allow books to be censored in school libraries is that it’s taking away student’s right to read books of their choosing.
English is the New Ethics The values of each individual person are formed by what they have been taught and experienced. One of the simplest ways to make a person experience situations that can shape their values and morality is through books. In the essay, “I Know Why The Caged Bird Cannot Read,” by Francine Prose, she challenges the practice of teaching students values through books designated by teachers. She explains that the books for students are being taught only as moral lessons and not something worth examining closely.
Starr Carter’s life couldn’t be more different from mine. These differences include heritage, family, personality, as well as schooling. An occurrence that I can relate to is the fact that Starr hides the entirety of the Khalil incident from her friends in school. I have also, many times, hidden certain things from my friends. For the same reason as Starr, I simply did not want to be treated differently which would cause me to then act unlike my usual self.
Saving the Future of Education Fiction, it is a form of writing that keeps reading and learning fun for kids across the globe, something they can't do without. The Glass castle, is a novel written by Jeanette Walls. It is a memoir of the Walls’s life growing up in a family that was never stable. In the story, Jeanette’s family constantly has to move to new places running from her parents’ problems which leads to the kids becoming desperate to get away from them. The school board wants to take away fiction books, but without them, how will kids learn about important social issues such as responsibility?
United States of America, a country that is known for its striving democracy and its amendment towards “freedom of speech”, made an unlawful decision by allowing many public places like libraries and schools to apply censorship and ban books. Literature and any other type of writing are all types of freedom of speech because it allows each author to express themselves and their message through their work. With the authority of censorship and banning of books in a democracy like the United States causes a danger to us because we would not have the ability to obtain certain knowledge that might help us in a significant way. Additionally, I think we would be affected if we did not read any of the short stories we read in class, for example, “Battle Royal” by Ralph Ellison. If we had not read “Battle Royal, we would never have the chance to unscramble and understand his symbolism in his
I believe that in doing this, teachers are distracting students from the writing’s content and structure. Teachers should teach literature for what it is, not for what values they can loosely connect to it. When I was a freshman in high school, we read The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. The book centered around a mentally unstable, socially isolated teen named Holden Caulfield.
Title (rough draft) In a world where all books tell the truth and are based on true stories, this world, SHOULD NEVER EVER EXIST! The Etiwanda school board is banning all fiction books because they claim that they are bad and do not teach us anything. I however, know what the school board is doing, is one hundred percent wrong. Fiction books are very important to human life and can sometimes teach us more about humanity than nonfiction books can.
Storytelling can be described as a powerful tool, with the ability to reach many different individuals and affect their perspectives through the messages they are conveying. Narratives in a similar sense can have perverse effects on human consciousness, leaving impacts of how we think, feel, imagine, remember and relate. Mitchell states that popular fiction is important to society as it contains many important messages that can be disguised as social transformation or ideological revisioning due to the large and diverse audience that it is able to reach (Mitchell, 2012). The focus will be to examine four different popular fiction narratives from this term and the important messages within them that aid or encourage some aspect of social transformation.
Books can create portals to different life experiences and encourage reading. A few schools and libraries have challenged the educational value of some books, however, therefore leading them to eventually be prohibited in a particular place. Each reason may be different depending on the book and the location of the exclusions. Books are icons of literature and their value should outshine the occasionally offensive topic. Be that as it may, there are multiple reasons why books should be taught and included in a curriculum.
The same goal can be achieved through Fahrenheit 451; Bradbury's novel frequently references violence and this can increase students' awareness and promote peaceful attitudes through classroom discussion. Presently in American society, violence and controversy cover the nation, but if the next generation is aware and well-equipped through the use of literature, the future of America could be one of
It is very important that writers are able to send a message to their reader with their book. Authors best do this by bringing about empathy. In order to send this message, authors often develop strong characters that go through various problems and struggles. The book, To Kill a Mockingbird, shows this very well with its characters Scout Finch and Tom Robinson. This book helps the readers learn from the character’s reactions to their problems.
Williamson Starr holds her tongue when people piss her off so nobody will think she’s the ‘angry black girl.’ Williamson Starr is approachable… Williamson Star is nonconfrontational. Basically, Williamson Star doesn’t give any reason to call her ghetto” (71). Rather than internalizing the racism, she acknowledges the racial stereotypes and sacrifices the expression of her cultural background and unified identity to achieve inclusion and disprove the notion that all African Americans act a certain way.
Books create many senses to readers. They allow readers to obtain the same emotions as the characters as challenges are being faced. They also allow readers to mentally set themselves in the situation of a character. Not only can the text of a book be able to relate to the audience, but it can definitely relate to the author of the text. Some may argue that authors write stories for the fun of it; they do not wish for the public to invade their privacy.
