Course Reflection
This is the 2nd time I got to reflect on a course that I have took here at Ashford. I enjoy the opportunity to reflect on what we have learned in each course and to see where I need to grow and learn more. As human beings we never stop learning and this is important to recognize in order to grow in our field and become the best early childhood educator possible. The same as it has been with my current course I have gained valuable knowledge in Nutrition and Health of Children and Families. I have never had to decide a meal plan at my school since it’s already planned by the Japanese Government or at my house because it’s planned by my wife. However, the discussions in this class had brought many points and possibilities of how to handle food and plan menus to fit specific dietary needs out for all of us to use in our current and future positions within the early childhood education field. Understanding how we can keep the children in our care safe from illness and disease is very important to me as an educator. My fellow classmates had many great ideas and added to each other’s discussions. The vaccine debate will go on for a long time but I believe that the bottom line is that parents need to be informed on the risks and benefits so they can make the best decision for their children.
This class has affected my actions and decisions in my future role as an early childhood education professional. Each bit of information I learn; not only in this class, but in previous and future classes are all added to my arsenal of ways to be the best early childhood education professional that I can be. I am using all the information I have learned to shape who I am and the type of teacher or early childhood education professional that I will be when I open my own
On the other hand, Bihr gains an audience related advantage of safety values when she addresses the topic of protecting children from harm; Bihr explains that administering vaccines helps protect children from illnesses like the influenza virus or rotavirus. Researchers Ferdinands et al. (2014) found that the “…influenza vaccination was associated with about a three-quarters reduction in risk of influenza-related critical illness in children… Our results highlight the value of increasing the use of influenza vaccines among children” (Ferdinands et al., 2014, p. 681); while Dr. Cave’s (2014) piece, Adolescent refusal of MMR inoculation: F (mother) v F (father), adds that “A global vaccination campaign has led to a 71 per cent drop in measles-related deaths between 2000 and 2011, making a huge impact on the death rate which was estimated at 2.6 million deaths per year in the 1980s” (Cave, 2014, p. 631).
Pro Vaccination Since the invention of vaccines, it has created a huge impact worldwide. As a child begins to start school, their required by the state to receive their twelve routine shots. The children who receive all their shots have a greater chance of not contracting any diseases. Throughout the years, vaccination or otherwise known as immunization has been a hugely controversial issue worldwide and whether or not to vaccinate children. However, vaccines are an effective and key role in keeping the human population healthy and safe.
Fuller and Strath (2001) conducted a quantitative research study that examined local populations of early education organizations based on the 1990 household census data to report features of the early childhood workforce nationwide. Multiple economic and regulatory forces shaped the population of early education organizations that operated within states and local communities. The median center-based teacher was 34 years of age, reported having completed some college, and was married. The median family childcare home provider had a high school diploma. Fifteen percent of all preschool teachers in urban areas were African American and 8% were Latina.

As many would guess education is likely the main thing that someone who hires an early childhood professional looks at. This along with someones work background are very important parts to hiring an early childhood professional. Although these are very important, there are many other very important things that are looked for when hiring an early childhood professional. In the article “12 Characteristics of Effective Early Childhood Teacher”, on NAEYC.org, Laura J. Colker talks about what makes a good early childhood educator.
Although not all the children will sleep, so for those children activities will have already been setup for them to do. I always ensure that I encourage children to use the toilet to allow them to become independent. I also demonstrated to the children about what is happening in order for them to follow instructions. I was aware of all the children’s dietary needs, allergies and religious beliefs. I worked in partnership with the children’s parents and carers to find out what food their child can and cannot have.
Required Immunity Mandatory vaccinations for children in public schools have been the center of much debate since laws were first developed to regulate immunization. Fears from parents about side effects and adverse reactions have steered many away from wanting to vaccinate their children despite the numerous infectious diseases they prevent. These debates have gotten in the way of progression in schools for preventing the spread of disease. To me, the risks of not vaccinating children are far greater than the risks of adverse reactions.
Strong emphasis is given on nurturing relationships with the families of young children and functioning collaboratively with other professionals. The program offers a series of coursework encircling infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and primary children. Through student teaching, field placements, and practical learning, students build up competence in the use of developmentally appropriate methods and practices. The important reason to makes a good and professional early childhood educator is to communicate with children and try to understand them. I did not have any working experience in kindergarten, but I have some experience of taking care of a child due to my mother is a babysitter. The child that my mother takes care is a boy and he’s autism. He is a child that sometimes like lives in his own world and sometimes he is also hyperactive. He likes to sing, dance and write.
Many people may think that vaccination is a bad thing, that instead of preventing it causes illness, that is not natural. Natural or not, there are many reasons as to why we should vaccinate us and the younger generation. Most of the time children don’t like vaccination because it hurt, but is the responsibility of a parent to seek the wellbeing of his or her child. Vaccination it’s a preventive measure of various diseases. Unfortunately, things like the anti-vaccination movement, the misinformation on the Internet, and the believe that vaccination causes more damage than is worth, have led our society to think that it’s right not to vaccinate.

Abstract As early childhood educators, we the teachers have differing philosophies and approaches to education of our own. There are many different types of early childhood programs. Each program is unique in its philosophies, methods, and program goals. Every one of us early childhood educators is unique in our own way, which makes each early childhood program experience different and special to everyone involved.
Quality in the Early Years is based on the respected educational goals and practice of the cultural communities making up a society. A definition of quality in the early years differs by the perspectives of each of the settings stakeholders (Huntsman, 2008). It comprises of a range of things that change between and depends entirely on the needs of each individual. Today in Ireland early year’s educators in settings throughout the country are increasingly more challenged to provide quality services that meet both the requirements and expectations of each child attending their settings and also their families (CECDE, 2006). Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) has in many countries become a policy priority.

THE IMPORTANCE OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION IN THE USA 1.Introduction Early childhood is an essential stage of life in terms of a child 's physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. Growth of mental and physical abilities progress at an amazing rate and a very high proportion of learning takes place from birth to age six. It is a time when children particularly need high quality personal care and learning experiences. Approximately 60 to 70 percent of preschool-age children in the USA attend an early childhood program or child care program out of the home, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.
