How does clothing imagery affect a person's opinion on another person?
There are many ways in which a person can use their appearance.Clothing can be seen as a representation of the disguised nature of people, rather than to express who they truly are.As we observe the attire of another, we can determine the income ,interests, or nationality they come from. A person with a black suit, a gold watch, briefcase and tie can be viewed and judged as a middle aged, business man with a good income living in the city. This is all concluded from observing the image that the man was presenting.

In this quote he explains that the clothing you wear is to be worn to be kept warm. Not for the look of it, resembling that they have all the riches. From this he inferences that both daughters should eliminate the clothing they wear for the people of the land to see how ungrateful and hypocritical they are .Lear, also continues to explain the difference between real needs rather than fashion and social needs. He makes these comments to his daughters as he is in a rough position as children of his own are disobeying him and treating him wrong.
In response to Lear’s comments Regan does not agree to the words he used. As regan confronts her sister Goneril she shows true emotion of hatred towards him. Reagan is the person who demonstrates a negative approach towards clothing and is seen as clarity. Lear’s comment on Reagan’s clothes proves her inability to see what is more important in life. She thinks biased because her clothes refrain her from seeing the whole perspective. Which allows us to notice that throughout the play her plan to destroy her fathers life is successfully completed. By the many mischievous plan to make her father be with

This backfires when she realises that the young man is her own son, and that she has ended up hurting her own family. This shows the audience how her capitalist “every man for himself” attitude is a bad idea that does not work, again promoting the concept of mutual
Throughout the book his attitude towards the jacket changes as he learns to accept it. The main idea where this is portrayed is when he calls the jacket “that green ugly brother who breathed over my shoulder that day and ever since.” This quote also uses personification to describe his new feelings towards his jacket. The figurative language extends the understanding of his new reaction to the jacket by being able to relate to their own lives
“Master, please tell me you didn’t go out wearing that.” River turned to his long time Servant. “What’s the problem? What’s wrong with my attire?” Shadow walked closer and in a compliant voice grumbled, “Master, no offense; however, your appearance is similar to that of an 18th century gothic night creature.
Many people, especially teens, tend to be unappreciative of what they have and choose to only think about themselves. One does not think about others but only about what they have and how they look, even if they are very fortunate for what they do have. All that matters to people these days is how they look or what they have, and if it is going to set off the right impressions to others. In Gary Soto’s short story “The Jacket” the boy is very unappreciative of this “new jacket” his mom has just brought him saying that the jacket looked like “the color of day-old guacamole.” Whenever the boy would wear that jacket he would feel as if everyone thought differently of him because ‘it made him look different.’
Also the theme of power and status is illustrated through Angela’s immaculate and expensive wardrobe as well as her need to
As described in the movie, A slick, bright advertising man who thinks of human beings in terms of percentages graphs, and polls and has no real understanding of people. 5. Forces of evil 5.1 Goneril and Regan Nicholson (2008, as cited in Halenárová, 2015) asserts that Goneril and Regan are very similar characters; some studies have even analyzed them as if they were one. Both of them are full of pretence and when it comes to take their part of the inheritance they use language of flattery. However, during the course of the play we see that their words differ from their actions. Goneril: “I love you more than words can wield the matter; / Dearer than eye-sight, space, and liberty; / Beyond what can be valued” (1.1.58-60).
It is a striking event how he treats his alleged favourite daughter and how easily he believes the lies he is being fed. Despite this, his quote holds a certain truth to it. As Lear has sinned against Cordelia, his other two daughters have sinned against him. He is right in his words for the reason that, although he was unjust and treated Cordelia disrespectfully, he did it because he felt betrayed.
It starts with the physical and superficial but goes beyond. It governs behaviour, language, customs; it directs the etiquette of business dealings and the machinations of politics.” In Italian culture, appearance and others opinions are considered tremendously influential. Another use of imagery was the whip itself. This whip could have represented society and how it reacts to people like Jay and his sister. It stated that “A whip wasn’t something you rode, it was something to hurt you, something that came down hard on prisoner’s backs and left them scarred” (Hemley, Whipped 114). The imagery in this quote is spectacular. It showed how Jay thought, and made me picture a helpless man being beaten.
