In the renowned narrative Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jay Gatsby is murdered by George Wilson. However, despite Mr. Wilson pulling the trigger that led to Gatsby's demise, no one should place all of the blame on him only. Gatsby's death can be attributed to a chain of several events. His murder can also be traced back to Tom and Daisy Buchanan, Myrtle Wilson, and even Gatsby The critical incidences that led to Gatsby's demise were Tom's and Myrtle's affair, Gatsby's affair and obsession with Daisy, Myrtle's murder, and Mr. Wilson's eventual shooting of Gatsby. These incidences all have different causes and effects. The initial event that contributes to Gatsby's death is Myrtle's death. While this death was very odd since she ran into
Gatsby was chasing a married woman who moved on from him and had a kid with another man. Gatsby dedicated his life for a woman who wouldn't be together with him at the end of the day. Gatsby had a dream of Daisy that was just too much and he couldn’t reach no matter what he did. All the actions that Jay Gatsby took led to his death because instead of moving forward with life he wanted something in the past.
The story of the Great Gatsby has a rather tragic ending. When tensions that were built throughout the story finally erupt, it leads to Myrtle Wilson being killed by a car, Jay Gatsby being murdered by George Wilson, and George Wilson committing suicide after killing Gatsby. So the big question after reading the book is who's responsible for all of this bloody trouble? After reading the book I think the best person to point your finger at is Tom Buchanan.
Gatsby is the most responsible for the tragic ending of the novel, his own death. He ignored warnings from close friends about potential danger, refused to let the gardener drain the pool, and took blame for something he did not do, which all led to his murder. After Myrtle gets run over by a car and passes away, Nick believes he must warn Gatsby that her death will be traced back to him. Nick tells him to “go to Atlantic City for a week, or up to Montreal” (Fitzgerald 91) because he knows that the car used to kill Myrtle belongs to Gatsby and people will find out about it. Nick tries to look out for his best friend Gatsby, but unfortunately, Gatsby does not even take this warning into consideration and refuses to leave West Egg.
Who is at fault for Gatsby's death? In the great gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gatsby reunites with his past lover and then dies due to unfortunate reasons. I think who is responsible for his death is Daisy, she is to blame for his death in my opinion. Meeting with Daisy all over again wasn't such a good idea for Gatsby, because it ultimately ended up being his downfall. In Chapter 1” I hope she'll be a fool- that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool”(Fitzgerald,1925, p.17).
The Great Gatsby is a 1920’s novel narrated by Nick Carraway, following his time in New York City and Long Island. In the novel, Nick’s neighbor, Jay Gatsby is murdered by George Wilson. Gerorge acts in revenge for the death of Myrtle, his wife. Myrtle Wilson is a mistress of Tom’s who had affairs hidden from their partners. Although Mr. Wilson committed the crime, Gatsby and Tom Buchanan are responsible for Jay Gatsby’s death.
Gatsby uses the last five years of his life trying to achieve his one goal of obtaining Daisy as his wife and spending the rest of his life with her, but what happens to him instead is unexpected and undeserved. Jay Gatsby got shot and killed by George Wilson. Gatsby did not sleep with Myrtle, he is an honorable man and would not sleep with another man’s wife. Gatsby also did not kill Myrtle, if he did he would have stopped the car and not just kept driving. Daisy did not talk to Gatsby ever again after the accident.
In The Great Gatsby, Gatsby's death was a result of Wilson assuming gatsby killed myrtle, his wife. Gatsby took the blame for Myrtle's death to protect Daisy. Wilson doesn't hold all the responsibility for Gatsby's death. Gatsby's love for daisy is also to blame. If he didn't care so deeply for her he wouldn't have taken the blame and Wilson would've never shot gatsby.
Mr. Jay Gatsby meets his Maker “Death doesn’t discriminate, between the sinners and the saints,” and neither does it discriminate between the rich and the poor. In a novel The Great Gatsby by Francis Scott Fitzgerald, set in the Roaring twenties when the difference between the lowest and highest class was enormous, death finds the main character, Jay Gatsby, in the form of a bullet. The most obvious choice when looking for the person responsible for Gatsby’s murder is Mr. George Wilson, who pulled the trigger aimed at his chest, however, after further inspection, he is not the only one who shoulders the guilt of Gatsby’s death; the others who contributed, though not with a gun but words and inactions, were Daisy Buchanan, Tom Buchanan and Jay Gatsby himself. To begin with, Daisy Buchanan holds the biggest part in Gatsby’s death, even though she was not the one who pulled the trigger, her lack of ethos, her love for money, not to mention the fact she killed Wilson’s wife, Myrtle, predestined the murder that took place in the novel.
After the affair between Daisy and Gatsby, as well as Tom and Myrtle was discovered, Tom and George made different decisions in how they dealt with the affair. Tom and Daisy decided to move away with their daughter to avoid their problems and guilt and hide in their wealth, but George on the other hand made the terrible decision to take “justice” into his own hands. After Tom told George Gatsby was the one having the affair with Myrtle and is who ran Myrtle over, George decided to go to Gatsby’s house and shoot Gatsby which ended in his death, and proceeded to kill himself in the same fashion. “They’re a rotten crowd,” I shouted across the lawn. “You’re worth the whole damn bunch put together.”
They say that money is the root of all evil. Gatsby's downfall definitely had to do with his finances. All of Gatsby's wealth was followed by problems that the average person would never have. Gatsby is most accountable for his own actions but there were three other people I believe play a part in his downfall. Dan Cody,Daisy, and Gatsby's parents also influenced his life negatively and caused problems in his life.
The most shocking moment in the novel The Great Gatsby was ultimately when George Wilson snuck into Gatsby’s backyard and shot him in the back, sending him falling into his pool. If you were to ask a student who was responsible for the murder of Jay Gatsby, they would respond with the answer “George Wilson”. However, simply putting the word “morally” at the front of that question, you can now be provided with several different answers. Any main character in the novel The Great Gatsby, including Nick, Daisy, Tom, or Gatsby himself can be seen as morally responsible for the death of Jay Gatsby besides George Wilson. How would you feel if the woman you worked hard to be with and were deeply in love with was the one morally responsible for your death?
Harry S. Truman once said, “Actions are the seed of fate, deeds grow into destiny”. In F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel The Great Gatsby, Jay Gatsby is killed by George Wilson who mistakenly believes that Gatsby Murdered his wife, Myrtle. Jay Gatsby is welcoming, optimistic and innocent of murdering Myrtle Wilson. Because Gatsby is generous, romantic and innocent, he definitely did not deserve his horrible fate. With Gatsby’s fate being two-sided, readers will better understand why Jay Gatsby did not deserve his fate.
American Literature is defined as the literature written or produced in the area of the United States and its preceding colonies. Death is a common concept portrayed in American Literature. Titles such as Of Mice and Men, Inherit the Wind, and The Great Gatsby all have character deaths as a major part of their plotlines. Even though these deaths are a major event to the readers of the novel, it minimally affects the other characters of the story. Theses novels show that death doesn’t affect the masses – life goes on.
Gatsby uses all his financial means, personality, and charm to try to win back the heart of his true love Daisy Buchanan through hosting extraordinary parties and his influential behaviour on others. F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote the “Great Gatsby" fiction novel to intrigue readers to fall into the fantasy world of lavish parties and the dramatical effect of a love connection that only ends up in tragedy. Events in life can influence the decisions that one makes and can have significant impact through changing our destiny. The significant events throughout the novel notably impacted the following characters Nick Carraway, Daisy Buchanan and Jay Gatsby. resulting in forever changing their destiny’s by the following events Nick Carraway
In The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald Jay Gatsby was murdered by George Wilson Husband of Myrtle. In the court of law there’s only one person who was responsible and guilty for the murder of Jay Gatsby. Although in the eyes of god there was more than one person responsible for the murder or had the ability to stop the outcome of the murder. Weather it was Tom being honest about his affair, Daisy doing the right thing and stopping during the accident or Jay Gatsby himself by taking control of the situation and doing what was good for both Daisy and himself instead of just what 's best for Daisy. Tom, Myrtle, Daisy, and Gatsby were selfish and self centered leading them to become Morally responsible for the death of Jay Gatsby.
