Why is it important for colleges to have a mission statement? It is important for college universities to have mission statements because it indicates what the college academic policy offers students. Mission statements should provide the organization’s purpose and sense of direction while making the university look attractive within the organization to incoming students. A successful mission statement should be able to covey ethos, pathos and logos in some sort of way which will be used in principles of the mission statements. UNCW uses pathos to present their commitment to student’s learning and the environment on campus. By using an emotional appeal to the students, UNCW creates the written text equivalent of a hug, welcoming you to join their community. Logos is presented as “responsible citizenship expressed in our baccalaureate and masters' programs, as well as doctoral programs in areas of expertise that serve state needs.” These all apply to the list of services UNCW provides that might be logical for students to enroll in the college. Tim Collins, a British Army Officer, is best known for his role in the Iraq War in 2003. Additionally, he is known for his eve-of-battle speech. Before the battle, he spoke out to the 1st Battalion of the Royal Irish Regiment in Iraq in 2003. Collins uses pathos and logos to convey the message of fighting toward a common goal of liberation, rather than maltreatment, to his troops.

His main goal was to make it to Alaska just to enjoy his life in peace but along the way, he ran into tons of issues that cost him stress and even his life. Jon effectively convinces his audience through statistics and surveys paired with emotional stories.

The authors Greg Lukianoff and Jonathan Haidt use logos, ethos, and pathos to discuss the issues and solutions for trigger warnings and macroaggressions on university campuses. The authors start the article off by giving examples and other pieces of literature written about trigger warnings on college campuses, these are examples of Logos. Logos is used throughout the document for example in the third paragraph the author observed the recent campus actions at Brandeis University.

Another characteristic of social economy that York University possesses is volunteerism. Within the school, volunteerism occurs in many places such as clubs and student governments. In his book, Quarter defines volunteerism as organizations, with both paid and non-paid staff, that employ volunteer labour who contribute to provision of services (Quarter p. 6).
Walden University’s College of Education has a similar vision. In the vision, Walden is “commited to the pursuit of positive social change through education.” The reason I am pursuing this degree is so that my students can do the same thing that Walden is teaching it’s students to do. All of the social activists, presidents and CEO’s in this world learned what they know from a teacher. They are able to impact the world, because they were given the tools to do so.

The strategic purpose of school governors is to support the school in many ways. This includes, making sure there is a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction within the school. They support the head teacher and hold them accountable for the educational performance of the school and its pupils. They will oversee the financial performance of the school and make sure its money is spent in the right areas. They will also carry out a number of other significant duties, which include the appointing and dismissing of staff, hearing appeals and grievances, forming policy on the school's curriculum, setting standards for pupils' behaviour and discipline and setting and monitoring the school's aims and policies.
During my second semester at Western Carolina University I violated the WCU Alcohol and Drug Policy. I chose to consume alcohol without being the legal age of twenty - one. In my past, I have had many good decisions and also many bad ones. From the bad decisions I have made I think to myself “What can I do different next time?” or “What can I learn from this mistake?”
