Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the ability of the computer to do things that people normally do. It is also an academic field which studies how to create computers that are capable of intelligence behavior. There are three different ways to develop a computer with artificial intelligence. The first method is to build systems that think exactly like people (Hammond, 2015). This is called a ‘strong AI’. The second method is getting the system to work. In other words, they have built a system that can behave like humans, but it can’t think like humans. That is called a ‘weak AI’. In the article, “Top 9 ethical issues in artificial intelligence”, the writer mentioned that in 2015, a bot name Eugene Goostman won the Touring challenge for the first time by fooling people into believing that he was a real person. Recently, the first robot was given citizenship in Saudi Arabia and she looks like an actual woman. Another problem with AI technology is stupidity. You can teach or program a machine to recognize certain patterns or behaviors, but it could mess up. In the world of mass shootings and high crime rates, if you want to use an AI machine for security, then you have to make sure that it is properly trained. Along with stupidity, there is also racial bias. Although AI technology can be smarter and more advanced than humans, it can still make the same mistakes. Consciousness in the Mind versus the Computer: Searle’s Argument There is a view in philosophy that the brain and artificial intelligence are one in the same thing, this theory is called Computational Theory of Mind. It proposes that the human mind is an information processing system, thinking is just computing because the theory also says that the brain is just a computing machine. One philosopher Searle calls this “strong artificial intelligence,” or A1. The consequence to this view is that the mind is not biological, the mind is only the program’s result that the brain runs as a computer. The idea of creating an artificial intelligence is becoming ever more popular in our society. Featured in movies such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner, and Ex Machina, many present artificial intelligence as mysterious entities that are dangerous to society as a whole. As the technology that humanity has at its disposal continues to improve, many fear that the threat artificial intelligence presents in these movies will become a reality. Even Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors and SpaceX said that artificial intelligence presents a “fundamental existential risk for human civilization” (Sullyman).
Many people have different ways of approaching the topic of machines in our society today. Machines have certainly improved how individuals in the workforce produce their good or service; however, these such machines can lead to negative consequences. If our society does not limit our machine 's capabilities, it can lead to effects that cannot be understandable or controllable. Although machines have incredible abilities in reality, these abilities have certain flaws which can lead to something disastrous.

Just imagine coming in the work one day and told that you were being replaced by a robot. People need work self driving cars don’t. A little under half the population of the world have drivers as a job just imagine all of them being lost that’s not good for the environment nor the pedestrians in the world there’s a lot of risks with self driving cars. Douglas employs notable examples to support his claims and rightfully proves why AI is not as risky as seen by the public. David Parnas’ “The Real Risks of Artificial Intelligence” focuses on the unseen negative aspects of Artificial Intelligence. He argues that AI programs can be untrustworthy and even in some cases, destructive due to the programming approach that programmers take. While Parnas is negative about the concept of Artificial Intelligence, Eldridge see Artificial Intelligence in a brighter light. Both authors present their arguments differently in terms of tone, level of diction, examples and organization.

Technology will evolve, as it is in its natural way to do so. Thus, in the car manufacturing area the purpose for the near future is to produce autonomous cars. People love the idea of making driving more enjoyable and comfortable, and less stressing by continuously keeping the steering wheel and pushing the pedals. Having such technology available is great, but everyone is thinking about comfort, enjoyment and pleasure of traveling by car. There are more sensitive matters that must be discussed regarding autonomous cars, and some of them are responsibility and ethics.

Rise of Artificial Intelligence and Ethics: Literature Review The Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, authored by Nick Bostrom and Eliezer Yudkowsky, as a draft for the Cambridge Handbook of Artificial Intelligence, introduces five (5) topics of discussion in the realm of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and ethics, including, short term AI ethical issues, AI safety challenges, moral status of AI, how to conduct ethical assessment of AI, and super-intelligent Artificial Intelligence issues or, what happens when AI becomes much more intelligent than humans, but without ethical constraints? This topic of ethics and morality within AI is of particular interest for me as I will be working with machine learning, mathematical modeling, and computer simulations for my upcoming summer internship at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in Norco, California. After I complete my Master Degree in 2020 at Northeastern University, I will become a full time research engineer working at this navy laboratory. At the suggestion of my NSWC mentor, I have opted to concentrate my master’s degree in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Algorithm Development, technologies which are all strongly associated with AI. Evolve into Having Self-Awareness Being self-aware simply means that you have a keen understanding of your own personality. That includes your positive and negative traits, your thoughts and beliefs, your feelings, and your inspiration. It would be easier for you to understand others when you are self-aware. You will also be able to tell how they see you in return. Most people believe that they have a good sense of self-awareness, but it would be best to check at a comparative scale to see where you fall on it in contrast with others.
I do not believe the field has been developed to its potential in any regard, and feel that considerable progress can be made to improve the interactive experience that users have with an artificial intelligence application.
