“I, George Washington, the general of the Continental army, is here to tell you to fight on, evan when things seem bad, it’s at the worst times when things brighten up.” This is George Washington talking inspiration into his soldiers to keep fighting the good fight because he says, “Give up a cause to lose”. In December 25, 1776, George Washington sent some troops and himself to go capture Fort Trenton, but the trick is, it was christmas and everyone at Trenton was asleep. In the end of the “Battle” Washington won without loss. Now because the battle of Trenton was such an amazing win for the Americans it also made people “try harder”. Think of it this way, you're playing a game and you’re winning. You will try harder to stay winning than you would if you were losing. Well the same thing happened to the american troops. Because of this tho, Washington had to make a plan for his next attack. The plan was to not fight the British in open fields but to fight like the native Americans, he also added to his plan to fight defensively instead of attacking, Washington hoped this would tire the British troops out. …show more content…
So, after the british moved into the river the rebels flowed in, surrounding them. Evan tho that the British commander Jonny was there, they could not defeat the rebels. Because of this victory and because Jonny surrendered, this proved that just because the weak are weak, they still are tough in numbers. Some may call the battle of Hudson river the turning point in the war because it proved that Americans could win if they tried hard. Not so long after this battle the French joined the war as the Americans ally and they provided weapons, ammo, food, men, and others. Because the French joined the war, American’s didn’t seem so
Pep talk In 1776 the British thought they won the war and General Howe offered to pardon all rebels which the rebels signed a contract that promised to remain peaceful obedience to the king. Bob knew that he had to do something to win the war. So Bob reads Paine's pamphlet to the last of his troops. Bob had planned a sneak attack on the British troops where they were camping in the winter in Trenton.
Fourthly, morale within the Army was at an all-time low. The hardships of the winter had taken their toll on the soldiers, who were demoralized and disillusioned with the cause. Many were questioning the wisdom of continuing the fight against the British, and some were even considering defecting to the other side. Washington was acutely aware of this challenge, and he made it a priority to boost morale by holding regular drills, giving inspiring speeches and encouraging officers to lead by
Historically armies of Europe usually did not fight wars during the winter months for obvious reasons. But Washington understood from the outset in 1775 that if he were going to win the war with England, he needed to have a fighting force active for 12 months a year. Washington desperately needed to keep his army together for the looming battle at Philadelphia which the English occupied during the winter of 1777-1778 when Washington arrived a Valley Forge which sits northwest of Philadelphia. Washington 's troops were desperately short of rations.
Washington read to his soldiers every day to give them motivation for them to stay. If they were exceptional soldiers in the Continental Army they wouldn’t quit because, they have help from the continental committee, they have as a fiery spirit of Alacrity, and of all the people that lost their lives to win the war. In the beginning, soldiers in the Continental Army should not quit due to, the assistance there getting from the Continental
The Americans won the battle. The Battle of Saratoga was the major turning point in the war. Americans had clever war strategy. The soldiers knew that the British were making their way towards Saratoga, so they slowed them down by destroying bridges and leaving fallen trees on the roads. Since the Americans knew of Burgoyne's coming, the American soldiers wanted to try sabotage his forces.
David McCullough wrote the book 1776 because he likes history and because he wanted to teach people about the revolutionary war. Mr.McCullough wanted to teach people on how the Revolutionary war was fought and how the Americans were about to lose the war against the British. He also wanted to portray both sides of the war on how the Americans forces were brilliant and where they were luck he did the same thing for the british. David McCullough wanted to show what techniques the americans and the british had. He also wanted to teach us about the leaders that were in the wars and he gave us information about their backgrounds like where they came from.
Washington was an amazing leader with many problems and still had victories. He trained a group of men who were not fit for war. The colonial army consisted of farmers and commoners, not highly trained fighters. They fought with Washington for freedom. With how poorly these men were prepared for way, the outcome should be totally different.
Before the American Revolution, the British had appeared unstoppable. The thought that the colonies, who had existed completely at Britain’s will, could defeat them was astonishing. America gained their independence, despite the doubts. Without the tyranny of the British monarchy, the colonists had to establish a new government around the recently written Constitution. George Washington, one of the generals critical to the success of the revolution, was unanimously elected as the new leader.
Even though George Washington was not officially a federalist, he was the first person to sign the Constitution. Washington is arguably one of the most influential leaders in history, and his signing that document started not only a new beginning, but started a new nation. Our founding fathers that promoted such documents signed the constitution because they believed in a firm federal government. Washington believed not only in the logic of the Constitution, but also believed it could be ratified. George Washington was a federalist because he supported the Constitution, approved of the federalist papers, and owned a large farm.
George Washington’s Presidency George Washington, as every American has known since around pre-school, was our nation’s first president. But what if we didn’t have a president? Maybe a king, or even a theocracy? Originally, George Washington thought that maybe a constitution may not work, and a ruling elite may even work better (William P. Kladky). The Constitutional Convention had many long and heated debates on how to best create their government to give equal power to all branches of the government, and a board of three was one of the contenders (William P. Kladky).
Just because I am not re-enlisting, it does not mean that I have lost all hope for the Continental Army. They still can win the war, even if all they are is just a group of barely trained farmers. The soldiers in Washington’s army are dedicated. They believe that they have a chance at winning.
George Washington wanted the best for his country, so he created a Farewell Address before the end of his presidency. This farewell address was written to give advice for the next generations to follow to make sure America continues to be a strong country. George Washington had experience and went through many situations and he did not want the future generations to follow his mistakes and take his advice. He did not want us to fall into the same situations he did and his advice was valid because he has so much experience. One thing that he has experience with is foreign affairs.
Soldiers that would endure the hardships and fight for the independence of themselves and their families were vital to America prevailing over the British. Washington had fought with the British in the French and Indian War. He knew the landscape and the tactics of the British Army. This proved important to the success of the
One of George Washington’s biggest mistakes was at Fort Necessity, where a massacre of his troops occurred. It was the first commanding officer position he had received and he chose an easily flanked position that was exploited and used against them by the French and Indians. Later within his lifetime he made sure that each position he entrenched himself within was more defensible and much more difficult to flank. Yossarian learns from flying his missions that joining this war was a mistake, however he is unable to capitalize on this realization because of the situation he had thrust himself into. Within Washington’s life were many mistakes, another of which was his intense desire to end the Revolutionary war with one decisive battle rather than a long drawn out conflict.
George Washington was the first to say the presidential oath , since then every president has taken one , every president has done it a little different. For example president Obama has changed it by words , so he has to do a re-do. Obama was one of the biggest turnouts at the White House because of the presidential inauguration. George Washington didn 't have much turn out but only because he was the first to do it and they didn 't have tv where they could see the tv back then so many people didn 't know where when or what was happening with him and the presidential oath. George Washington 's speech was way different from Obama 's speech in many reasons for one as I said earlier George Washington had fewer words.
