Have you ever saw sled dogs and wondered how they survive the bitter cold? Well, if you have been in the Iditarod, then you definitely understand how it is to be that cold to survive the freezing cold. The Iditarod is a sled dog race. The owner and the dogs have to go through bitter cold tracks with wild animals, the forests, and ice where they may fall through. The Iditarod is a significant event because it is a tribute to Alaska’s history and the role of the sled dog, it preserves the historic iditarod trail, and it saves the sled dog culture and Alaskan Huskies.

The trail has a part of it that is beautiful trial. It is breathtaking and it leaves you speechless. Also, the Iditarod trail is old. The tradition of the Iditarod goes on for years. So, as the tradition of the Iditarod, they normally don’t mess with the trail.
Also, the Iditarod is a significant event because it saves the sled dogs culture and the Alaskan Huskies. The sled dog culture is getting out of style for some people. Some people might think that it is getting old and that it is a waste of time and money for the sled dogs and the owner. But not everybody thinks that. They have to buy special food for the dog, care for it, make sure it doesn’t get frostbite, and make sure that they are old enough and healthy to be a sled dog.

Shem Pete’s Alaska is about the wonders that Alaska has to give. Shem Pete focuses mainly on rivers located in Alaska in this book, such as the Skwentna River, Matanuska River, Turnagain Arm, and so on. Shem Pete gives a brief description of each river, the surroundings, and the culture within the area. From what I have read, every place that Shem Pete talks about, has their own language, and is very diverse and the rivers of Alaska has the most beautiful rivers in the world. Not only are these rivers here for sight seeing, but they are also there for hunting food, and to bring back food.

More pros to the Iditarod race is the winner of it. The winner of the race pretty much becomes famous overnight and more multi-time winners would often donate the money to a charity of their choice. They are long list of pros to the Iditarod race there is also a long list of cons. People think the race is abusing the dogs because they get hurt to an extent of sometimes dying.
