Leaders possess different strengths that allow them to succeed in their career or life. The Clifton Strengths Finder Assessment helped identify my top strengths and how to lead with my strengths in order to further develop them. My top five strengths were competition, positivity, winning others over (WOO), harmony, and achiever. Based on the meaning of each strength, I related to all them, however, I was surprised by some of them.
This was the second time I had taken the strengths finder assessment and like my previous results I receive competition as my top strength. I have always been an extremely competitive person, whether it be sports, school, or employment. I have always strived to be the best and dislike losing. According to the results a person who is competitive measure their progress based on the performance of others. I extremely relate to this since I feel satisfied when I outperform other coworkers, peers, or friends. For example, at school when a test is given I must always obtain the highest grade from my group of friends or else I will be unsatisfied. Nevertheless, it is the way that friction is approached that makes a difference. By applying my positive attitude and sense of finding a common ground among coworkers, it will enable me to apply this strength to my daily life. But all of them together are unbeatable” (p71). These can be used when not only in building a team but in life itself. Having all these five qualities can make an individual powerful. Being able to communicate with others, having trust in themselves and others, having responsibilities and taking responsibility for them, caring for themselves and others, and having pride in themselves is very important in becoming an effective leader. From the coaching aspect of it, learning to think as one and working together is what is going to make a successful team.

Eisenhower “Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it. To become an effective Military Leader, one need to have some significant leadership qualities”.
Were you surprised by the strengths identified? Overall, I was not surprised by the strengths identified after completing the assessment. The five strengths identified included: achiever, learner, focus, restorative, and futuristic.
No one person is the same as another, we all interact, behave, think and feel differently, and I think this is what amazes me the most. One strength that is substantive to my career that I believe I have, is empathy. I have always had such an efficacious sense of empathy with the people around me.
Vision and Goals The Strengths Based Leadership assessment identified myself as being responsible, someone who can relate and communicate well with others, futuristic and encouraging. To begin with, my top strength is positivity. According to Rath, “ You are generous with praise, quick to smile, and always on the lookout for the positive in the situation” (Rath p141). I believe it is always important to be positive regardless of how bad a situation is. My job is to motivate others when they become pessimistic of a certain task. This strength is essential in both school and a career as neither a classmate or a co-worker wants to surround him or herself with negativity that makes for a long day.
I have become more determined which is one of my strengths. What I have done to stay more focused is make a list of my priorities that I need to stay on task with. I was not at all surprised that my number one strength is winning others over because I love people. I love being around people whether they are strangers or friends and enjoy making conversation. In clinical, I am always excited to meet and talk to new people. Helping classmates with their patients is exciting to me because I am able to meet and talk to even more people throughout the day.
