Issue 1 – Overcrowded schools

In Malaysia, many of government schools have risk of overcrowded pupils in one classroom. For example, in one classroom there are more than 40 pupils which is quite a lot for a teacher to teach in that classroom. The pupils also will not feel comfortable during learning and teaching process. There are more enrolment of pupils than it was designed to accommodate. The classroom supposed to be filled by the pupils that fix the classroom itself. The classroom should at least filled around 30 pupils which I think it more than enough for both parties which are pupils and teachers. The teachers are feeling more and more overwhelmed and burned out, and they run the risk of becoming ill or exhausted. I have been in a school in rural area for 4 months for my practicum and I could see that many of senior teachers are teaching lower primary pupils. Like the case of small classroom filled with more than 40 pupils. The learning and teaching process did not goes well due to the shortage of facilities. The pupils could not learn in comfort and also the teacher could not teach the ways they wanted to teach the pupils. Some schools could not afford to repair the fans and lamps due to not having enough fund. That is kind of torture for the pupils and teachers.
Also, the school field could not fit the pupils. When subject of Physical Education (PE) time, the pupils could not enter the field because of the field is too crowded. The teacher needs to bring the pupil to do physical activity at the assembly point which is very dangerous because the surface of the assembly point is hard and have many small stones. If the pupils fall down while do the physical activity, they definitely will get bruises, wounds and in other case need to be
