Immigration and racism issues have always been a strong discussion here in America. “The United States of America originated based on immigration. All the original ancestors from the great 13 colonies all migrated from Europe” (Immigration). Unless you are a true Native American, then your ancestors are immigrants. America is not the wonderful free land and melting pot that it is advertised to be. In America, we are still dealing with racial and immigration issues.
“There are a lot of Americans who believe that immigration is hurting our country” (Vargas 2011). They believe that they are stealing our jobs. Some Americans agree that a wall should be built to keep these immigrants out. As well as building a wall, there are some in favor of kicking out Americans who are already here based on race and religion. For example, Republican candidate Donald Trump has spoken out against Latinos, Blacks, Arabs and Muslims. He has an immense number of supporters who agree with what he says. This speaks a lot about our country. Donald Trump has exposed the deep-rooted racism that America has spent years trying to rebuild.

This movement has given those who have felt abused and mistreated a voice to speak out. A main concern and issue for the movement has been the police brutality against the African-American community. People are outraged and furious by the constant violence and brutal force against innocent civilians. They believe this is the cause of underlying racism that is still prevalent within our society. The fact that the phrase black lives matter must be constantly spoken to the world means that there is a problem. I like many others believe that all lives matter. Your race and background should not determine if you matter or not. Fifty years ago, segregation was abolished here in the United States, however the mindset and deep rooted hatred towards those of colors
“Black Lives Matter “is a recent example of Black Rhetoric within the media. Dating back to the unfortunate events that took place in Ferguson with the shooting of a young black male named Michael Brown, the even has grown infamously and famously depending on which side you tend to agree with. Countless people have given their input on the situation and not all blacks tend to agree with the movement of “Black Lives Matter”. Recently a women named Peggy Hubbard went on a rant about how she felt the movement was an unjust movement. Ms. Hubbard stated that saying black lives matter was implying that no other lives within the community mattered.
It wasn’t a problem when immigrants kept coming to the United States until the citizens who lived there felt like the immigrants were becoming a symbol of what America could potentially become. They were afraid that the minority was going to control what was theirs first. People in the United States first noticed there were differences between
Black lives matter. Why do police kill our people is about a unarmed teen being shot and killed just because a over ticket.the officer who killed roberson
Alicia Garza: co-creator of the #BlackLivesMatter movement (BLM) advocates that -“Black Lives Matter doesn’t mean your life isn’t important – it means that Black lives, which are seen as without value within White supremacy, are important to your liberation. Given the disproportionate impact state violence has on Black lives, we understand that when Black people in this country get free, the benefits will be wide-reaching and transformative for society as a whole. When we are able to end the hyper-criminalisation of Black people and end the poverty, control and surveillance of Black people, every single person in this world has a better shot at getting and staying free. When Black people get free, everybody gets free.” (The Conversation,2017).
The 2016 US election will be an election that no person will forget, especially the fallout after the results for the president-elect were announced. Protests and riots breaking out denying the reality that Trump had won and many threats by some Pro-Trump saying inappropriate racial slurs and many telling non whites to ‘get out of their town/city or else.’ Throughout the years, the United States has been called the land of opportunity, leading to a high immigration rate in the late 1800s. Many foreigners came to the US feeling they would be accepted and allowed a new life. The reality being that they were received poorly and had mountiful acts of racism, both within the law and the populace, thrown upon them.
Thesis Statement Through dignity, justice and respect, the black lives matter movement is able to promote unity among all African Americans and all walks of life to break down barriers, demand change and reject
In Canada there are still social views within society that say that blacks are different from whites. Blacks are treated differently based on their race and ethnicity. The Black Lives Matter movement provides society with a view that they are equal despite the opinions of some, and proves that they are sadly mistreated in today’s society. This campaign is extremely beneficial in encouraging acceptance and fair treatment within not only Canada, but the rest of the world as well. Black people face detrimental obstacles in daily life that severely decrease their opportunities in life due to racism.
Black Lives Matter is a nationwide group dedicated to bringing awareness to institutionalized racism in America. Black Lives Matter consists of anyone who feels passionate about confronting the long-standing tradition of treating people of color as second-class citizens. Black Lives Matter is vital
Over the course of the last three decades the United States and allied countries have used increasingly aggressive methods of combating terrorism, yet in recent years hysteria has risen to a point where innocents are getting shot due to the color of their skin or the religion they believe in. The shooting just last month sparked unease in Kansas and across the globe after witnesses said the accused gunman had told the two victims to “get out of my country” before opening fire (Washington Post). With increased hostility among residents, the United States needs to ensure refuge within their country by helping citizens get a better understanding of the countries’ sound immigration screening process and why immigrants are essential to the wellbeing
In the current political world, immigration is perceived as a horrendous concept. Presidential candidate Donald Trump, has brought further attention to the topic. Thus making it a household topic from what it used to be. Trump has made it clear that something has to be done about immigration. Despite his current attitude towards it, he does present a valid point.
This movement began after 17 year old Trayvon Martin was placed on trial for his own murder and the murderer, George Zimmerman, was not held accountable for the murder. This question is worthy of study because in order to be able to understand and put an end to racial disputes we have to learn how African Americans lives have been perceived in the past and how
The Black Lives Matter movement has changed how I view the world in many ways that have benefitted my life; it showed me that racism is still well and alive in our country, and that there are people who will do anything in their power to insure that you don't become a successful person. Even though that I knew that there were many people in the US who still had racist mindsets, I now know that our country hasn’t drastically evolved mentally, regarding race, in the last 60-70 years. Though there may have been a small change in people who have actually accepted us as one people ,and the fact that we are equal despite our skin color. That we all bleed the same blood, and have the same bones, organs and etc. This movement/event has opened my eyes.
For years now there has been a lot of controversy involving the looming question: Is the criminal justice system racist? Racism is prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one 's own race is superior. Ever since the Trayvon Martin case of 2012, the justice system has been in a complete downfall including all of the police brutality cases since then also. According to sources, 1 of every 4 African American males born this decade are expected to go to prison in their lifetime. Census Bureau reports that the U.S. is 13 percent percent black, 61 percent white, and 17 percent latino.
They want to reduce the violence that is done to blacks from racists. Movements like this is what america needs to promote and have a better future. The black lives matter movement has improved the overall violence wrongfully admitted to blacks (Engler, 2016). This could be due to the fact that the movement has brought out so much attention that racists are now trying to hide the fact that they are racist. A recent assignment that was assigned in my American Law class was to write what races or things you are prejudice towards, and when the papers were read almost everyone said they didn’t have prejudice views towards a certain race.
Immigration has always played a large part in the American story, whether it was the pilgrims coming over to America striving to build a new society or all of the men and women who landed at Ellis Island looking to make a new life for themselves and their families. Immigration has played a large part in America's past and it still plays an important role in America's present (one of the United States nicknames is the melting pot for a reason). Immigration also plays a part in our culture we have Chinese and Mexican restaurants all around the U.S and there are television and radio station in different languages for people who still speak another language (there is also an increase of foreign stores starting up in the U.S). But for decades the issue of illegal immigration has caused a debate in U.S politics, issues such as crime and drugs related to illegal immigration further complicate the issue.
