I have been involved with FFA all four years of high school. I was the chapter historian my sophomore year. I have competed in many agriculture-related competitions: opening and closing ceremonies, agriscience fair, and soil and land judging. In opening and closing ceremonies, I learned how to conduct a proper FFA meeting. When I competed in the state agriscience fair, I studied the effect of different grass seeds on food plots. I also looked at the effect hydroponic beads had on the growth of tomatoes. In soil and land judging, I examined four different soil pits to determine if the land area was appropriate for farming. Soil and Land judging was by far my favorite competition. I love being able to go outside and get dirty. Along with competing …show more content…
However, my sophomore and junior year I took agbusiness classes, and found that I enjoy the business end of production a whole lot better.I really enjoyed learning about different laws and policies. I discovered that I was really good with that kind of stuff. Also, I am very interested in growing plants. Last spring, I was able to take the greenhouse class my school offered. In that class we learned how to plant different types of plants, how to care for the plants, and how to run a greenhouse. When we actually opened the greenhouse, I would spend my entire day out there. I loved helping people pick out plants for their gardens. At the end of the year, I was awarded the greenhouse award. This award was given out to the person who stood out the most in the class. My love for agriculture inspired me. It is what lead me to choose the career path I chose. I would like to major in food and agbusiness. With this degree, I hope to work for the government. When working for the government, I want to promote programs that allow more students to learn about agriculture at a younger age. This would help young children learn where their food and many other commodities come from. To me, this is a vital lesson everyone should learn sometime in their
According to the Ray Nash, an ag teacher in Mississippi, “Ag teachers never have the same day twice.” They often attribute to working during the summer (“Consider a Career In Agriculture Education - FFA New Horizons.”). County fairs, FFA events, and other agriculturally related gatherings are things that they get to be apart of. This often means traveling with the FFA Chapter to conventions and workshops around the

When it came time to take the class in college it was more of a refreshment than an entire new set of skills to
As a student in Agribusiness I have learned so many skills that will help me succeed in my career. I have a full understanding of how economics applies specifically to agriculture benefits, how I am learning and applied my knowledge in my other economic classes. With the learning I have done in this class I will be able to have a more knowledgeable conversation with my future employers and co-workers and make valuable contributions to my
In a world so troubled and disjointed, these characteristics are exceptionally important and are becoming scarce. This is why Agricultural Education should be taught in High Schools across America. Where there are many differences among our Nation, these qualities still hold a valuable position for all configurations of circumstances. While it is important to have a successful career path in the future, FFA also has the capabilities to provide students with a sense of where they belong. During their time as members in the FFA, teenagers have the opportunity to
For my service learning hours I worked in the Eagle Heights Hort 120 Garden with Ed to help in the gardens. My work included maintaining beds, harvesting plants, and putting the garden to rest for the long winter ahead. While in the garden I learned a great deal about the various plants that grew there, along with other similar species that were not in the garden. I was also able to learn more about the how to grow plants and put the information I was learning in class into use. I was also able to explore various different types of plants that I had never eaten before.
Upon beginning my first class at Walden University, it has been difficult to see myself getting through this 8-week course. Furthering my education has been something I have struggled to accomplish for the last 4 years. I almost decided to give up and continue being just a high school teacher. However, being a senior teacher that motivates my students to go above an beyond to reach their goal has pushed me to work hard and start a new journey. Though it is only the beginning of my journey, I can see graduation.
When I grow up as a child, I was setting goals for a future and what to do in life. Next 5 years I will be working in different states at hospital or clinic. I may change to undecided major whether if I want to pursue different major. According to Occupational outlook handbook” Physical therapist assistant observe the patients before, during and after therapy; making notes patient’s status and report it to a physical therapist.’’.
My junior year, I was awarded the outstanding junior award. I received this award for active participation, meeting attendance, and overall class grades. I was so excited and felt so proud to get this award. As a senior, it was time to give up my office to a younger FFA member who could fill the position after I graduated. We do this at our annual chapter banquet where awards are given, and scholarships are given.
As a State FFA Officer, we are the greatest representatives of Agriculture in not only our state, but the nation as well. As agriculturalists, farmers, businessmen and women, government officials, family and friends follow us throughout our year, they will be highly influenced by our example. This year as a State Officer I have a great hope to advocate for agriculture. It is essential to help promote the image of agriculture in a positive way, sharing great stories, ideas and future plans for this industry. The objective as a State FFA Officer is to inspire the people we meet by showing them the opportunities found in agriculture.
According to George Washington, “The basis of our political system is the right of the people to make and to alter their constitutions of government.” Replace ‘people’ with ‘students’ and this becomes a powerful declaration about the politics within the organization of the California Future Farmers of America (FFA). As with any political arena the FFA is an organization where power bases and allies are developed; however, it is the students who define those relationships. The five underlying principles of the political frame are clearly present within the FFA.
FCCLA has profoundly impacted my life so far, and I know it will well into my future. How do you plan to use your college education to make a difference in your community? As a hard-working high school senior my main focus is to pursue a higher education after high school and pursue going to college to study computer science. As a young adult I believe It is very important to keep developing as not only a student but also a person, I strongly believe that education is the key component to establishing a
My educational journey has been an experience I will remember. I have attended school in three different countries, Antigua, St. Thomas, and New York. A diverse educational experience has allowed me to interact with many different cultures and confront many of the different topics we discussed in class. At that time however, I was not fully aware of the implications of certain situation but after many readings I can now fully understand many of the experiences I encountered in my journey. All the information I have learned in this class however will bring all my experience together where I can make much more sense of it than I could when I was younger.
