In this memo, I will introduce myself with my major, some of my background, why I am taking the English 341 course, and what I hope to get out of taking this course.
In the Spring of 2012, I was admitted and enrolled in NMT for the study of physics with the astrophysics option. Recently, last semester, I dropped the astrophysics option and am now a general physics major primarily due to funding issues with the GI Bill.
Prior to beginning my time at NMT, I served for nine years in the U.S. Army. My most recent assignment was with the 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment stationed in Vilseck, Germany. I served five years at that duty location, but in reality, only lived in Germany half that time due to my combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. My wife spent the entire time in Germany, half of which she was alone while I was deployed.
Before my enlistment, I was an uneducated software developer. I did considerable contract work specifically in MS SQL and MySQL custom database interfaces for mid-sized companies in the manufacturing and distribution industries. The primary programming languages I used were C++ and C# under .NET framework 1.1.
I have always been a student of writing- even if not taking an actual course. I have practiced writing throughout my jobs and personal life. As a programmer, I often was responsible in documenting technical instructions for system analysts about

What I have learned in a military technical writing course only applies generally in other venues. My writing will always be riddled with grammatical errors and faulty chains of reasoning, but through continual practice I will improve. I expect that this course will provide the additional knowledge and formalization of technical writing that I need to move forward in my future
Late 2005 I was assigned to 2-35 Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, HI. I re-enlisted into the Army after almost a three year break in service. On my previous enlistment, I served in the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment from the 82nd Airborne Division. All the new soldiers to include myself were standing in formation waiting on the Battalion Command Sergeant Major (CSM) to speak to us. I was the only Private First Class with a Combat Infantryman Badge, an Expert Infantryman Badge, and a combat deployment to Afghanistan.
To the Hinsdale District 86 Board of Education, If you're reading this, thank you for taking your time to read this message. I am Grant Zhang, a District 86 resident and incoming freshman student of Hinsdale Central High School. As a graduate of Westview Hills Middle School of the Maercker School District 60, I am right around the area of the line which would be drawn for the boundary change. I know people on both sides of this proximity line, and to see us divided would not only be a pain for me, but a pain for this entire D60 community.
Good morning. I 'm Raul Irigoyen 's mom. I 'm writing you this email because I 'm very worried about Raul 's grades in your class. Why Comp I is So Valuable I believe that there are several reasons why Composition I is a valuable course for college students to take. Some of the reasons Comp I is so valuable are 1) it improves your writing skills, 2) it teaches us the different types of writing, and most importantly 3) it teaches us to manage our time wisely and effectively. Without the course Comp I, I believe that students wouldn’t be prepared or as prepared to take on the real world. Writing skills are something that most people don’t just have.

Writing has always been an issue but yet interesting subject of mine. As hard as I try and write essays, and papers I just can’t get the hang of writing. My Writing Experience In previous courses, my writing skills have been mediocre or just enough to pass the class. Throughout the duration of this course, I have written a variety of papers using different techniques and skills. Previously I would write assuming that the only audience would be my instructor. My thoughts are now able to be more complex because I have learned how to maintain a logical argument in a structured
I have never been good at writing, nor have I ever enjoyed writing. Writing is never something that has been easy for me. However, after taking this class, I have come to have a greater appreciation for writing. I have learned that in writing, it is not what you say, but rather how you say it. There are several important writing techniques and lessons I have learned in this class that aide in improving the “how”.
