Can a change of character be a result of emotions such as fear? Well, that is a common theme shown throughout The Lord of the Flies by William Golding. It is a book about young English boys who land on an island together, and the boys have to figure out how to survive and live on this island. On the island there ends up being arguments, deaths, and a war. The theme of pressure and fear making people do things out of character is shown in Lord of the Flies when Ralph cries out of fear at the end of the book, when the boys kill Simon, and finally when Jack has thoughts of killing.
