It was a very merry day in London on December 25, 1853 as the village was filled with laughter and joy as families all around celebrated the ecstatic holiday of Christmas together. Wherever you went you would see people of all nature without a morose (p. 5) attitude celebrating with family, even the most unlikely businessman who the town knew as Ebenezer Scrooge. After the visit from the spirits who helped Scrooge realize it was time to give up his grumpy personality, he was a new man who followed one general precept (p. 51) which was to honor Christmas and gave every inch of his soul to make sure it was enjoyed by everyone as he loved to see the jovial (p. 26) expressions of joyous children and adults which was brought by the holiday. Even though this was benevolent (p. 26) enough, Scrooge still decided to get all of the guests the same present which was a box of only the most expensive chocolate produced by the London Chocolate House. Though not all the guests would get this treat as one guest had a special place in Scrooge’s heart and would get something even better and this guest was a little disabled boy named Tiny …show more content…

The moment felt instantaneous (p.22) because just like that the dollhouse was gone. Sad, Scrooge went home his head hung low to the floor and shamefully entered the door until he was addressed by a familiar voice. “Uncle Scrooge,” it was Tiny Tim, “I found your wallet but why must you look so sad?” Scrooge explained how he had gotten everyone a gift except for Tiny Tim and how he forgot to pick up the dollhouse which was the gift for Tiny Tim and just how awful he felt. As if this didn’t mean anything everyone started to giggle. So when Bob Cratchit and Fred began to talk they reminded Scrooge that Christmas was not about the gifts but spending your holiday with your loved ones and gave Scrooge a reassuring pat on the back. Before the night came to a close Tiny Tim nor any of the guests took their gift instead they all went out to the village and gave the boxes of chocolate to the poor without family with the kind words

In Charles dickens novel a Christmas carol the main character Scrooge makes a miraculous change from being a amoral person to someone who possessed many good qualities. In this particular essay I will endeavour to show these character changes. Also, i will talk about how it makes the reader think about this character. In the beginning of A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge has not much to offer humanity except for his word.
It was a gloomy day in the city of london, and Mr. Scrooge is finishing up his dinner in the cold, dark, melancholy tavern. As he was about to head to the outhouse, a beggar came up to him and pleaded, “Sir, would ye’ be kind enough to spare me a few pence for a small Christmas dinner,” “Humbug! The prisons have plenty of food, so go there!” Scrooge countered.
Which all the family re-echoed.”(70) This scene touched Scrooge sparking an interest in the family’s well-being, especially their young, ill son Tiny Tim. Once again, Scrooge’s original way of thinking was disproved and rather than pitying the poor family he seemed envious, for they had a close, loving relationship with one another and he had just realized that the relationship they shared was something he wanted, as he had just realized it was his business to achieve just
In the first stave of Charles Dickens’ story, A Christmas Carol, Ebenezer Scrooge didn’t have much enthusiasm for Christmas. He didn't like people mentioning it and curse the ones who did. He found no reason to be merry and celebrate. But, after being visited by the ghost of his former partner, Jacob Marley, and the three spirits of Christmas, Scrooge becomes a changed man. To the Ghost of Christmas Future, he makes a promise that he will honor Christmas whole heartedly and will try to be better all year round.
”Then, with a rapidity with a transition very foreign to his usual character,he said in pity, for his former self, ‘Poor boy!’ and cried again. ‘I wish,’ Scrooge muttered, putting his hand in his pocket, and looking about him, after drying his eyes with his cuff ‘but it's too late now.’ ‘What is the matter?’ asked the Spirit. ‘Nothing, said Scrooge, ‘nothing.
With regards to his tightfisted character, Scrooge lives in a little suite of to a great extent empty rooms inside the house which he keeps dull and frosty since "obscurity is shabby" (whatever remains of the rooms in the building having been let out as workplaces). While he opens his entryway Scrooge is startled to see the spooky face of Marley rather than the natural appearance of his entryway knocker. This is only the start of Scrooge's nerve racking night. As Scrooge ascensions the staircase of his home he supposes he sees a train funeral wagon energizing the stairs before him out of the loop. As he gets to his room, puts on his robe, and eats his gruel by the chimney, he sees the carvings on his mantelpiece change into pictures of Jacob Marley's face.
Marley with all of his fearful powers compels Scrooge to change his old miserly ways. During the play three spirits Past, Present, and future who show Scrooge his past, present, and projected future. For example, Past brings Scrooge to his old lonely childhood. Present brings Scrooge to his friendly employee house, and Future brings Scrooge to his soon to be grave. By the spirits presenting Scrooge the consequences of not changing it causes Scrooge to change.
Scrooge remembers what he learned through the journey with the ghost. He comprehends that he can change the future. There is a little boy outside of Scrooge's window. Scrooge asks the little boy to go buy a turkey and bring it back. Once Scrooge gets the turkey he takes it to Bob's house.
He (Scrooge) went to his office and his nephew Fred come to visit him an invited him to dinner. Two poorly men came to his office asking for donation an Scrooge told them that poor people had to go to prison, a workhouse, or die. He went home and he was visited by a Marley’s ghost or spirit.
Scrooge was being very kind as a surprise. Scrooge then asked someone to deliver it and he asked to keep it anonymous. The Cratchit family was very pleased and surprised by the turkey. Scrooge then visited his nephew and his new wife.
“The righteousness of the blameless keeps his ways straight, but the wicked falls by his own wickedness”(Prov. 11:5). The story, “A Christmas Carol”, is about a cold-hearted man named Scrooge who transforms himself into a jolly, kind man when three Ghosts teach Scrooge about the spirit of Christmas. In the story, Charles Dickens illustrates the theme of how no one is past redemption through the transformation of Scrooge’s personality by the lessons of the Spirits. At the beginning of the story, Scrooge’s selfish personality is revealed, and the Ghost of Christmas Past comes and shows him the memories and truth of his life long ago.
Scrooge in "The Christmas Carol" shows how much he hates Christmas, and everyone he works with to change to a happy person with the help of others. Scrooge emphasizes, "What a fine day fellow... An Intelligent boy, a remarkable boy. " This is a critical part of this novel because this shows Scrooge overcame his dislike of Christmas and his entire disliking of people. Instead of rudely gesturing to people, he is now starting to act nicer, and more mature.
The spirit replies by saying, ‘“I see a vacant seat, and a crutch with no owner.” ’ Scrooge, heartbroken, pleads to the spirit,
