Dwight D. Eisenhower
Dwight D. Eisenhower was known to be many things. He was a successful commanding general in Europe during the second World War and one of America’s most respected Presidents. One of his greatest achievements was his vision and ultimate creation of what is now known as Dwight D. Eisenhower System of Interstate and Defense Highways. Dwight D. Eisenhower was both a visionary and ethical leader because he knew the United States needed a safe and efficient Interstate Highway system and had a ‘Great Plan’ to achieve it. He put much thought and consideration into the positive and negative impacts of construction and the effects it could have on the greater good of the American public. Dwight D. Eisenhower was a transformational

I also personally had an ethical dilemma and had to use intellectual empathy and courage with a touch of inspirational motivation to weigh the positive and negative attributes of sending half my team home early during a deployment to Afghanistan. President Eisenhower showed great moral character and was an ethical and visionary leader during both his time in the military and as President.
Visionary Leader
President Dwight D. Eisenhower was a visionary leader because he recognized the need for change and used inspirational motivation to propel his vision of a unified, connected nation through a safe and efficient Interstate Highway system. In 1919, the then Major Eisenhower was part of a convoy of military vehicles traveling from Washington D.C. to San Francisco. The journey was long and arduous, and he noted that the country lacked any sort of highway infrastructure. Upon his return to the United States after World War II (WWII), Eisenhower had an appreciation of the German Autobahn and its efficiency in carrying the German Army quickly and efficiently across the country

After a couple months of garbage details, I was faced with an ethical dilemma when I was given the opportunity to send half my team home early, and they’d be home by Christmas. I was ready to send people home after the first week so I began to compile a list and prioritize personnel qualifications. Additionally, I had to think about the upcoming missions that weren’t on the radar yet, but I had an advanced warning of. It was imperative I selected the right people to go or stay. Morale was non-existent and most of the individuals weren’t motivated to do anything. I used intellectual courage to look at the big picture. I had nothing but negative thoughts about the deployment and wanted to send people home as soon as possible. However, my colleague reminded me of some of the upcoming operations we may potentially play a part in and there was a high probability we’d be tasked. I knew that if I set my guys home, one of the Quick Reaction Team’s (QRT) in the AOR would have to pick up the slack, and my team was strategically located in country and had the proper qualifications. I flexed my intellectual empathy to put myself in the shoes of the busy QRT members. They’d been on road constantly,
In 1946, Hal Moore was stationed in Japan as part of the occupation force following the end of WWII. His unit was undermanned as well as a large portion of the men’s drafted service commitment was coming to an end. Thus, the soldiers discipline began to waiver, giving into excessive drinking etc.
Eisenhower was a man with many accomplishments. He intensely campaigned for world peace after conducting the D-Day invasion in Normandy. Dwight D. Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890 in Denison, Texas to Davis Jacob Eisenhower and Ida Elizabeth Stover Eisenhower as their third son. He was stellar in sports, playing baseball and football at Abilene High School. After graduating in 1909, Eisenhower worked at the Belle Springs Creamery with his uncle and father, as well as moonlighting as a fireman.
Although he spent 35 years in the military and served during both world wars, Eisenhower never saw a single day of active combat. After graduating from the U.S. Military Academy in 1915, he served at various camps across the United States. Eisenhower requested an overseas assignment when America entered World War I, but he remained in training roles at home. By the time the United States entered World War II more than two decades later, Eisenhower had risen to become one of America’s top generals. He eventually was appointed supreme commander of the Allied Expeditionary Force in Europe
Dwight David Eisenhower, also known as Ike, was the 34th president. He launched the space race known as the Cold War, between the Soviet Union and the US. He is also the first president who asked congress to establish NASA(National Aeronautics and Space Administration). Dwight D. Eisenhower led the Nazi invasion, also known as “D-day”. D-day was a day where the Nazi army took over France.
Ronald Reagan Legacy Leader When I look at the grand scale of leaders throughout history to present, one individual's legacy stands out above the rest. The 40th President of the United States (US), Ronald Wilson Reagan's character was above reproach. His charisma could inspire action in minutes. He was in office when the Cold War ended, his policies led the US economy to a generation of growth, and provided authorities for the entire intelligence community (IC).
George S. Patton Jr can be seen as the persona of America itself, having a loud personality and often times viewed as arrogant, but these attributes gave him the ability to raise morale and lead on the battlefield. His decisiveness and tenacity led him to have distinguished victories in Northern Africa, Sicily, and the final battles in France and Germany. His roles in WWII were instrumental in the downfall of the Nazi regime and Patton's impact on armored warfare and leadership were substantial, with the U.S. Army adopting many of his aggressive strategies for its training programs following his death. Without question, Patton is one of the greatest Generals in the history of the United States military. Before his involvement in WWII, Patton
Matthew Nuanez 11/15/2015 HIST151 Paper 2 The passage of the National System of Interstate and Defense Highway Act in 1956 is acknowledged by some historians as a highly significant piece of legislation passed by United States congress. The act created an abundance of jobs and changed the scene in America by leading to the growth of suburbs, a decline in inner cities, and a rise to new business (Snyder).
Some of the key characteristics which made Eisenhower a visionary leader included intellectual stimulation and helped lead to the creation of the interstate highway system. Eisenhower was also able to work through competing values in order to lead for the good of the country. Eisenhower was able to use critical thinking in order to train his troops when a temporary halt was placed on shipping out any units. Some personal examples I provided included attending PME, helping to redevelop the training manager position description, and helping to make changes to the maintenance training AFI. Eisenhower was able to create key items in American History as well as change the way society behaved by getting those around him and under his command to accept and strive to see his vision for America.
Colin Powell displayed many characteristics of an ethical leader through his actions, decisions and behaviors, during a military coup in the Philippines. As described in his book, Colin Powell was faced with a tough decision to make. There was an attempted military coup in the Philippines, against President Corazon Aquino. The concern was the Philippine military would join the coup and bomb the presidential palace. (Military, n.d.)
Question 1: General David Petraeus’ critical thinking regarding the Afghanistan surge decision was strongly influenced by the critical thinking elements point of view and assumptions while examining the decision primarily through the ethical lens of teleology. Petraeus’ critical thinking point of view based on the concept of counterinsurgency concept and his success in Iraq influenced his critical thinking process. Petraeus’ critical thinking assumption that a counterinsurgency campaign was the only way forward in Afghanistan also impacted his critical thinking. Petraeus examined the Afghanistan surge decision primarily through the ethical lens of teleology which played a significant role in his critical thinking point of view.
Looking back at the situation I was more foucs on my opinion and my morale stance that I really did not look at how everyone else might have felt. When we were preparing for the cell extraction we discussed just taking a stance and not doing it at all. But as we all spoke some express their concerns losing their jobs and getting another write up. Three of the guys had families and could afford to be fired or receive any unpaid time off due to disobeying a direct order. One officer’s wife had just had a baby and he need to stay on the shift he was on and disobeying the lieutenant could have taken him off his shift.
During the 1900s Dwight D. Eisenhower was the 34th President of the United States. Eisenhower was an American army general who fought in World War ll. While Eisenhower was president he managed with the Cold War tensions. America was facing the civil rights movement throughout that time. That meant that racism was going on and many people were being unequally treated.
When World War II ended, the United States rejoiced with what they assumed their victory would determine; total peace, the discontinuation of Communism, the return of all the dearly missed soldiers, and greater equality for all, especially in the workplace. Much to the dismay of many citizens at home during the war, these aspirations were not exactly what they expected. In the near short years right after the war, there was much prosperity and many were perfectly content, but in these years, many had difficult times with the changes that occurred after the war. With these rough times came many fears of the conditions of the country, but many of these fears were greatly calmed through the work of the President Eisenhower in the 1950s. In the

Throughout the course of history, Robert Moses, a renowned city planner, impacted America through his innovative ideas regarding transportation and infrastructures. In comparison to other engineers Moses possessed some unorthodox methods and styles. Between the 20s until the 60s, Moses’s work made various positive and negative effects on society. Some positive effects include: creating jobs and connecting different cities and areas. Regardless of Moses’s positive effects, some negative effects include: the loss of people’s homes through eviction and Moses’s refusal to build mass transit systems.
