Reasons Why Students Drop Out Of College Essay

Some people carry the responsibility of repaying student loans well into their adulthood. The writer suggests these people should consider a different pathway in order to not deal with that responsibility. Even if financial difficulties can possibly be taken care of, college brings on rigorous academic challenges as well. Not every student is equipped with the skills to succeed in college; in fact, Pharinet states that, “there are students who cannot read attending college” (Pharinet 680). Although a rare case, it completely goes against the idea that college is for everyone.

However, in special cases, a student may be excused from a college debt if they have an “undue hardship”. These special cases are very rare. Also, most colleges take advantage of the fact that they can raise the tuition fee and it allows them to make easy money because of federal lending policies. Studying at university is an expensive investment. Tuition fees have a disincentive effect on the students who from the lower and middle-income families. For the richest 2 percent of families, the same number is around 90 percent. ” Also, most of those students want to achieve better lives so they attend the higher education.

The importance of education has increased over the years, and has become a number-one priority and/ or main focus moreso today than in the 1960s. Due to this increase, there have been more people attending college, and more opportunities have come out of this better education.

Oftentimes the thought of attending college is seen as a requirement to enter the higher class in the United States. It has become common to think that recipients of a college education will end up making more money than the people who do not receive post-secondary education. The choice of whether or not to attend college has been pondered in the minds of adolescents. Her premise is “college is a waste of time and money.” She explores her premise thru topics such as why students attend college?,cost of college, career preparation, material learned, job market outlook, estimates of students in college and financial return on school. Caroline Bird throughout the article uses interviews, statistics and personal real life stories of families, to demonstrate her claim.

Is College Really Worth it? Many college graduates are currently unemployed, which has left many parents wondering, is college really worth it? Some parents believe that college prepares students for more than a job or career, and others don’t think it’s worth the cost. Recent studies have shown that new college students are losing ground on wages by the time they graduate, higher education is becoming a risky investment, and most students are better off developing their own “lower-risk” business.

And in between, students are driven to take low paying and high paying jobs against their own consent, their interests are altered, personal decisions must be taken according to financial situations, and people dare to reject education (Choi, 32). Student loan debt weighs on billions of shoulders in the world and it is nearly impossible to be oblivious to all the harm that it has done and all the factors it takes part in affecting that it shouldn’t. If awareness could be raised and colleges would only consider to at least reduce tuition rather than eliminate it, that would still help do the nation well and commence improvement. An education must serve to inspire imagination and to motivate creativity in as many fields as possible. A society that is excellent is a society that presents opportunities for each and every member.

High school students looking to graduate encounter difficult decisions, and when making those decisions they need to look forward to hypothesize the outcome. America generally believes that a college degree is basically a requirement just for entering the working middle class. According to the essay “Should Everyone Go to College?” by Stephanie Owen and Isabel Sawhill, higher education is not a great investment for every student.

A rising issue in today’s society is deciding whether or not college is worth the cost. There is an extreme amount of pressure that is forced upon high school students by parents, teachers, and peers to further their education and attend college. However, there is research that challenges the thought that college is the best possible path for a person to take. College may be a great investment for some people, but it is not meant for everyone. This is supported by the arguments that colleges are expensive, jobs do not always require a college degree, and students are forced to choose a lifestyle before being exposed to the real world.

Universities and Colleges Should Be Free to Attend These days, receiving a post-secondary education depends on the numbers in your bank account rather than the numbers on your report card. Universities and colleges should be free to attend because everyone should have an equal chance to learn and the amount of debt they have after finishing university or college is significantly high. The equality of learning at a post-secondary school is non-existent. Everyone should have an equal chance to learn at the level they deserve, no matter how much money they have. Studies show, “Among those not attending their first choice college, sixty-two percent said they could not afford to attend it and twenty-five said their first choice school didn’t not provide them with any financial aid” (Lucie Lapovsky).

Growing up, for most people, going to college is not an option- its an expectation. In our society, going to college has become a fundamental part of our education, becoming an adult, and for most people just simply part of our lives. However, as people grow up and experience reality, the realization hits that college may not be as simple as once thought. As much as attending college is expected from the majority of young people, dropping out of college is not. Even with the idealization of the college experience, some students are forced to cut their education short due to a plethora of issues.
