The Driscoll model of reflection gives a framework for reflective writing, allowing ideas and situations to be analysed and interpreted for personal and professional growth and development (Bostock 2015), therefore I have applied this approach in reflecting upon my experience in the group presentation. What? The beginning of our group presentation started with a conversation where we all gave our opinions and ideas on what we could do the presentation on and how we would go about it. The idea of basing the presentation on smoking was a mutual agreement that we reached after a discussion that allowed for everyone’s ideas. The problem was that we had such a large quantity of information that was difficult to narrow down to extremely specific ideas and data which resulted in some confusion throughout the group as to what ideas we were going to incorporate or not. It is said that, ‘a team with a common purpose and clear identification of roles and responsibilities creates a cohesive working unit’ (Watson 2015). This was evident in our group presentation in a negative context, as we did not have this clear understanding as to what information to utilise that would assist in benefiting our presentation. Once compiled and sorted to narrow the data down to the most relevant and useful for the presentation, the overall effect was very useful. The range of information that everyone was able to gather helped with all sections of presentation which was hugely beneficial to the final product. The Universal Intellectual Standards for critical thinking states relevance and clarity as two of the key standards required for critical thinking (Estes et. al. p.4 2016). This skill of narrowing information to be specific on a certain aspect, as used in this presentation, will be beneficial to my practice as a nurse in terms of using relevant information about patients to ensure proper care, while being clear so that the information received and relayed is
