Dr. Mae C. Jemison Speech Analysis

There are lots of astonishing, significant figures for mathematics and science when you look back in history. However, during my research, Mae Jemison stood out. Jemison is widely known throughout the world as the first African-American woman to go up into space. This was a major accomplishment, and it changed the course of history.

How does Lupita Nyong'o manage her emotions specifically during her award acceptance speech? She takes deep breaths to fight back tears, by staying focused on the speech she is able to hold herself together. What does Ellen do to relate to her audience effectively? Provide three specific examples of how she presents clear audience analysis in her presentation and how she's effective.

He argues that there is never right time or a wrong time to take action, there is only wasted time. He asserts that it is always the time to do something that is right, "Time itself becomes an ally of the forces of social stagnation. We must use time creatively, in the knowledge that the time is always ripe to do right,” (6) he also seems to believe that the inevitability of time passing is neither a bad thing or a good thing, but it can, however, be used constructively or destructively. He states, "Actually, time itself is neutral; it can be used either destructively or constructively. Comparing Speeches Many civil rights leaders have spoken out about their controversial views of how to address injustices. For instance, during the Civil Right Movement, Kathie Amatniek and Harvey Milk both spoke to voice that their societies that are directing injustices towards gays and women. Using pathos and metaphors, Amatniek wants America to rid of traditional views of gender. Meanwhile, Harvey Milk uses using pathos, diction and humor to connect with his mainly homophobic audience to abolish the negative stereotypes of gays.

Linguistics Being supposedly made up on the spot, Noah S. Sweat did not have time to compose an eloquent speech about a controversial topic. He instead spoke a purely unfactual and highly descriptive banter using doublespeak to voice his opinion of whiskey. Both sides of his argument include impactual adjectives to describe the drink. Or as Mr. Sweat would say on line 6, “the devil’s brew,” or on line 12, “the philosophic wine”. Each side of his argument is entirely one sentence long, implying that he emotionally fuels his speech as he works out his thoughts with the audience as one thought flows to the other.

Elizabeth Glaser and Mary Fisher, in their informal AIDS speeches at their respective National Conventions in 1992, provide personal accounts of the effect of AIDS and additionally plead with American citizens to take a stand and quit ignoring the issue at stake. Their tones vary from a sentimental and personal tone to an engaging political tone consistently in their speeches directed at American citizens. A topic broadly discusses between the two women is the leader they had in 1992 - George H.W. Bush - and what should be expected from him and every other American leader. Elizabeth Glaser believed President Bush ignored the AIDS situation and neglected to help.

Mae Carol Jemison is an extraordinary person, who despite the pain of exclusion, has burned a path through history straight to the stars. Jemison left a mark on history by becoming the first African American woman to enter space. She also inspired many girls to follow their dreams no matter how much they are rejected. Mae Carol Jemison is a African American woman astronaut in the 80’s and 90’s. She shook the world’s point of view on African American women astronauts.

Given her outstanding credentials, she was eventually accepted. Her official acceptance in 1987 made Mae Jemison the first African American woman in NASA’s space program. Once admitted to the space program, Mae Jemison was met with many awards, one being the Essence Science and Technology Award. Mae’s first mission, STS-47, took off on September 12th, 1992. Jemison had become the first African American to enter space, something almost every human being on the face of the earth will never achieve.

Speech Sounds and Octavia Butler The science fiction short story “Speech Sounds” is written by American writer Octavia Butler, it was first published in Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine in December 1983. This story presents Rye, a survivor of a dystopian world ravaged by nuclear war, where the effects after the blast caused people to lose the ability of basic communication. Here we see Rye fight against external and internal conflicts such as fighting against the world she lives in and fighting against her own wavering state of mind or identity. Her solution to finding peace with both situations was to find if she had any living relatives left, being that the ones living with her have perished, and in that moment she recalls her Brother and

Jarriett Hicks I think that each of these three stories a very unique as they seem to be directly addressing a person or a group of people about religious equity. The response from Red Jacket to Joseph Cram, really speaks from the heart and shows that he has no remorse for Cram’s ridiculous statements. Who is Cram to say that there is only one religion and one correct way to praise God? The instance when Cram refused to shake hands with Jacket shows pure ignorance as he suggests that the Seneca religion to be the works of the devil.

Time management: Time management is a very crucial component if you are willing to have a productive lifestyle. To be honest, I have always had issues with managing my time efficiently. This problem had become a huge obstacle once I got into college. Thus, attending a lecture that focuses on time management helped me a lot with this problem by introducing me to different aspects related to time management: planning, SMART goals, and important/urgent matrix. Learning to make a specific plan for my daily tasks and make a to-do list to make my day as productive as possible is something very helpful which was advised to me by the instructor of this lecture Mr. Irfan.
