Doing Homework In High School

High school High Schools are not doing a proficient job at sending young adults into the world that are not able to pull their own. High School is setting these young people up to go out and fail at life. This country is as strong as the new and upcoming youth is. The school system needs to be reset and conditioned for students to succeed and prosper. The school needs to rethink assigning homework, required classes that are mandated to be taken, and the way the schedule is set up. Homework is one of the more challenging things in school. In this writer’s experience it is hard to find time to do homework. What is wrong is that students spend anywhere from 7 to 8 hours in school. Majority of students have extra-curricular activities or a job, those take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours out of the day. Then kids have to have time for a social life with friends and their peers, also there has to be time spent with family to maintain a healthy lifestyle. A child from ages 13 to 18 need 9 to 9 ½ of sleep to function properly studies have proven. A poll taken say that on average students get 7 to 7 ¼ hours of sleep. Lack of sleep leads to memory loss, slow reaction time, and short attention spans. Those are important attributes to being in school. (Citation) …show more content…

They want to go through the system like an assembly line. All kids don’t like all the same things. They all have different interests and wants. Students need to take classes that will help set them up for their future. Most classes aren’t even relevant to what students want to do in their future. All students need to all know is basic math and English. In high school students should be able to learn what they want. They need to choose what is relevant to their selves. Kids could be learning a trait that will further help them in the workforce. If students choose to take the traditional route that is their choice, but its ok to do things
