Nature was introduced in romantic novels and poems. In the poem ‘’Thanatopisis’’ by William Cullen Bryant he described death to something that was peaceful and to be embraced. He believed that you become one with nature, one with earth once you die. But in the poem ‘’Devil and Tom Walker’’ by Washington Irving he described death to be evil, sinful. He believed death to horrifying and something to not be embraced. Here are some examples of elements. Individualism is a person’s personality, and how they do the things they do and why. In the poem ‘’Thanatopisis’’ a quote that describes individualism ‘’She has a voice of gladness, and a smile, and eloquence beauty, and she glides into his darker musings. ‘’Devil and Tom Walker’’ he describes individualism be awful ‘’ Lived …show more content…
‘’Thanatopisis’’ like one who wraps the drapery of his couch about him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.’’ This quote is describing how he laid down and died peacefully, Feeling death is a welcoming gift. ‘’Devil and Tom Walker’’ emotion in this poem is in my opinion is considered wicked. ‘’He leaped for joy; for he recognized his wife’s apron.’’ Imagination is something that isn’t real or considered facts. In ‘’Thanatopisis’’ The golden sun, the planets, all infinite host of heaven.’’ This is imagination because back then people imagined a world that isn’t alone, and that the universe is infinite. ‘’The Devil and Tom Walker’’ Tom said to go down, down, down into the earth, until nothing but his and shoulders could be seen, and so on until he disappeared. Supernatural is like magick, vampires, werewolves, witches, etc. In ‘’Thanatopisis’’ I have use the quote. That slumber in its bosom, Take the wings of morning. Then in ‘’ Devil and Tom Walker’’ When the clerks turned around to look for the black man, he had disappeared. That quote right there is a perfect example of a supernatural
Soon some of the stones that he had labeled were soon thrown back at them again. No one on that night saw any culprits and had no explanation of what had just occurred. Although, this did occur at night so it was hard to see anyone that could have been hiding. In this phenomenon stones were not the only objects that were thrown in the air other objects such as hammers were also thrown. The crowd inside the tavern were unable to conclude an explainable conclusion and believed that this supernatural phenomenon was derived from the Devil himself.
REAL ESTATE BROKERS AND SALES AGENTS. The foreclosure of the properties from defaulted mortgages from clients that are unhappy and unwilling to follow legal proceedings. This problem connects to the theme of the story The Devil and Tom Walker because if you get a loan to buy a house then it shows competance to pay the loan back without valunable to foreclosure for your family so not as when Tom did not make solid ethical choices for himself and his wife when he refused to comply with her to pursue rich of their life and let her go to the swamp by herself as in the story "The next evening she set off again for the swamp, with her apron heavily laden.

‘The Devil and Tom Walker’, is mainly about Tom deciding to sell his soul to the devil for his own desires. This does not sound like a great idea in thought, and pays for it in the end. It all begins in a small town by the name of Charles Bay. There is a legenday story that lies within Charles Bay, according to the citizens there is a great treasure burried by Kidd the pirate. Now it is said that Kidd has never returned to claim his wealth(312).

Washington Irving’s “The Devil and Tom Walker” shows how one's morals may be blinded by greed, temptations, and hypocrisy. Greed blinded Tom’s morals because he wanted money and power and would do anything for it. This is shown in the story when it says Tom leaped with joy because Tom found his wife’s apron and thought it had valuables in it. This shows that Tom cared more about money than he cared about his own wife’s safety and life.
An additional prime example of individualism is seen when Mufasa gives Simba a speech of how he needs to find himself. Mufasa is trying to get through to Simba that he needs to be himself no matter what and not to conform to someone else’s expectation of who he should be This displays individualism because of how it’s relaying the idea that people should be who they want to be, not what others expect them to be. Individualism can clearly be seen in the movie due to these
There are several similarities and differences between The Devil and Tom Walker and The Devil and Daniel Webster including the depiction of the devil, the role of religion, and the resolution. *paragraph* *topic*In both of these stories the devil was a dark man, he smiled after each deal to steal their souls was made, he was after each of their souls, and he previously took the souls of others(Irving, 1824, pages 3 and 4)(Benet, 1936, page 12). Both Jabez Stone and Tom Walker were not safe from the devil due to their religious status. The devil was able to make a deal with each of them because they did not have their religion to keep them safe from the devil(Irving, 1824, page 3)(Benet, 1936, page 12). In the end of each story the devil kept his promise and came to them expecting to take their souls, but

Tom Walker, the main character, represents greed in society today because of his injudicious actions. “‘You shall open a broker’s shop in Boston next month,’ said the black man. ‘I’ll do it tomorrow if you wish,’ said Tom Walker. ‘You shall lend money at two percent a month.’
The supernatural is one of the elements of Romanticism. It may not be one of the more major ones such as nature or emotions, but it is a relevant one in Shelley 's novel, Frankenstein. It is very difficult to discuss only one of the traces of the romantic movement in a novel as they are all interconnected. The supernatural, for example, is very hard to distinguish from nature as an element in some scenes in the novel as there is a very thin line differentiating all the elements from one another. Furthermore, supernature can also be related to Gothic literature, which makes it hard to identify the exact genre of the novel.
