My choice of a future in the Human Resources Industry came from my meticulous skills in organization and planning as well as my leadership abilities. I have devoted a large amount of my high school career practicing these traits as a Social officer of the Deer Park High School’s Deer Escorts. My course load, including three college-credited classes, and commanding role on my drill team has taught me the necessary characteristics of punctuality, self-discipline and notability needed to function not only in the continuation of education but also in my career path. Although I remain a high school student, I have acquired the feel of college and the essentials needed to be successful through the three dual-credit classes I have engaged in, in the duration of my junior and senior year of high school. I feel as though these classes differ from high school courses because they are more rigorous and require one to be self-disciplined and prompt with their …show more content…
My membership alone has taught me the balance and compromise needed when working with other people and participants of the same association. Being an officer, however, has heightened my experience because it has given me the opportunity to lead and command. I know this will help prepare me for future applications. This role has also shaped and defined my skills of arrangement and design. As a Social officer, it is one of my many duties to plan events and celebrations and to make sure that they are carried out magnificently. Planning outside, extra curricular occasions have also helped me build a strong knowledge of how to manage my time effectively. This expertise will allow me to be prosperous in my career because I will be conscious at all time of just how and when projects, events and other arrangements must be
Public school is one of the primary sources of education for many children in the United States, therefore it should be the school 's sole purpose to teach them the essential elements they need to succeed in life. This means more than teaching math, science, history, and English. A school, primarily high school, must provide courses that focus on a student 's future career plans, courses that challenge a student academically, and courses that help a student navigate their life as adults. Without classes that help students expand and delve into their future career choices, they can limit their views of success. An excellent example of this can be found in Jonathan Kozol 's Still Separate, Still Unequal, particularly in his interviews with the students of Fremont High School in Los Angeles.
When it comes to this semester, things for me are going well. So far in the course, I have been able to get all my homework and reading entirely on time and not rushing things at the last minute. This week nine discussion I thought gave us a chance to showcase what well learned on the aspects of resume building and higher education career development for individuals. A lot of the information of have learned from week nine will assist in my research into the final project for this course. Learning about the news about career counseling in setting in scenes like elementary, high school to higher education’s makes us focus on the individual and what they want their future to look like.
Maintaining an accurate schedule will facilitate the use of my time and process strategies by, accessing and planning a weekly program. A master list of writing everything down in an orderly, meticulous way, so that I can do a better job of staying on top of tasks is a fundamental principle. Making to-do-list of what I must be accomplished during the upcoming week, including class assignments and class participation. Being all-inclusive are curricular activities, personal daily tasks, errands, meals and time with friends on my list of things to do for the
From the moment I was accepted into the Milgard School of Business through the freshman direct program I knew that I would soon be introduced to a whole new spectrum of academic and career opportunities. For this being my first year within Milgard and the University of Washington Tacoma, I have become highly involved as a Milgard business student, Student Center Assistant for the University’s Center for Student Involvement, and resident at Court 17 while still maintaining a scholarship status in the Dean’s List with a 3.73 GPA. I can say with confidence that Milgard has allowed me to tap into my full potential as a purpose-driven student and an individual getting ready to enter the workforce. Relating to my involvement within the school,
As the semester progressed not only did my grades improve, but also the relationships and tools that were presented to me by UT and the LBJ School. Previously, I have always been very involved, that is why at LBJ I joined the Graduate Public Affairs Council and briefly worked for the Center for Global Business at McCombs. What I have learned so far is invaluable to my future goals and success. I realize that I did not meet one of the requirements in one class, but I am certain that I will improve and exceed this semester’s performance in my next semester if given the opportunity to remain an active student.
Today more and more people are going to college. Most people go to college to build their knowledge and to study a specific field that they want to get a job in some day. College is marketed to most people as a creative place where they will learn everything they need to know to get a job and enter the “real world”. As college students right now, don’t get us wrong we do learn many things but, we have found that in many classes we take, we just focus on getting a good grade or a passing grade. At the end of the semester we walk out of some class barely learning a thing because we retain information just long enough to do good on a test or exam and then forget it all together when the class is done.
Are you ready to try your hand at deer hunting with a bow? In my opinion, this is one of the most challenging, yet personally rewarding experiences that any hunter can have. Catching a whitetail from close range is a testament to your patience, stealth and skill. It takes a truly committed hunter to master the art of archery and once you do, there will be absolutely nothing you can 't do. This is a primal, perfect way of landing your prey and it will make you more adept in all other forms of hunting.
As an honor student at the top 10% of my class, I contracted regular courses in order to receive honors credit for them. I had the freedom of exploring related topics of my choice for the supplementary work I created in order to receive honors credits. These assignments organically grew into complex projects. It was through this additional work for honors, that I learned I have a passion for research and want to become a life-long scholar. During my social psychology course, in my second year of undergraduate work, I had the epiphany that I want to be a social
However, my demeanor may be a disadvantage if I were to be working with another population or in a different setting. For example, I do not think be successful in jobs at prisons or alternative schools because I may have to be more serious and assertive with my clients. Throughout my life, education has always been one of the most important aspects of my life and I believe my academic achievements demonstrate this. Over the past three years in college, I have maintained over a 3.9 GPA and put much effort into excelling in classes from various departments across campus, but particularly within the
Instead of just going through the motions allowing lower level classes to take up my valuable time, I feel it is important to take the initiative to pursue a more rigorous education. In fact, this new passion towards school has inspired me to consider advanced courses that will challenge me academically and increase my knowledge. To show that I’m serious about the
For many people, higher education is needed as they pursue their desired career paths. However, the same seven deadly sins of lust, gluttony, envy, greed, anger, sloth, and pride that keep one unhappy and unmotivated in everyday life, even if one does not realize these are the source of their unhappiness, can also be applied even more specifically to students. Most will struggle with at least one of these areas, if not all of them, in their academic journey. Being aware of the common potential downfalls, though, can better set up a student opportunities to overcome them. This, in turn, will help them in overcoming obstacles in their life after school as well.
Introduction When I first stepped foot in the classroom on the first night of this class, I knew this would not be just another ordinary college course, but I had no idea what I should expect. This class is much different in nearly every aspect from what I have come to expect in a college classroom. I am not walking into a lecture each evening when I go to class. Instead, I am entering an engaging atmosphere that allows us to work in teams, as an organization, and I can also expect a learning environment that allows me to grow while gaining an understanding of my own strengths and weaknesses.
Throughout my schooling, even when compared to my friends, I was fairly adept at most course work. This allowed me to, during the final two years of high school, to participate in Minnesota’s post secondary enrollment option program at North Hennepin Community College. PSEO allows top students to take college courses through high school and amass both high school and college credit. Both this experience and my time at the University of Minnesota afterwards helped mold me into the person I am today. This stems from the difficulties I had during my time at both North Hennepin Community College and at the University of Minnesota.
I matriculated on a full-scholarship, double-majored in Economics and Business while working part-time at an investment bank to pay my bills and gain work experience. The obstacles I faced growing up and at Berkeley instilled in me the tenacious work ethic I have today. The circumstances that shaped my strengths have also been a source of weakness. For example, my drive to succeed makes me impatient of those who do not share my motivation.
For an individual to be a success, it is imperative to possess qualities beyond intellect. A person must have character to flourish in both their career and life. Throughout life, several experiences have molded me into a person of resilience, empathy, composure, and open-mindedness. Such values have allowed me to reach my goals and serve my community. These assets, in supplement to my intelligence, render me an exceptional student and employee.
