Robert Frost once said ¨In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life...it goes on.¨ Death of the Hired Man by Robert Frost is about Warren and Mary, who are the owners of the farm, have a hired man, Sila, who decides to leave them to find better work, but when his work goes down, he returns looking for jobs to earn money. Warren has had enough and tells his wife the actions he would take with Sila. Mary is a woman who has more in the positive side than her husband and she realizes that Silas is a dying man and that he has returned to the only home he knows of. Now Mary is trying everything she can to show her husband the better side of Silas. She has already forgiven Sila for his past mistakes with accepting him into her home and trying her best to care for him. Frost shows lines that unless something changes in Silas's life, he has accomplished nothing. “... and nothing to look backward to with pride, And nothing to look forward to with hope, So now and never any different." (line 104) Frost was a big believer of hope and the majority of his poems has something to do with it. He said, “Hope is not found in a way out but a way through.” In the poem, Warren experiences regret and learns a big lesson to forgive and accept people before it is too late. Through his facial, the emotional and behavioral changes that Warren experiences becomes a lesson. In Death of the Hired Man by Robert Frost is an interesting and an eye opener story. It helps readers understand the lesson and use it in the real world.
