I think that the Middle ages were not a golden age OR the dark ages. I think this for multiple reasons. To start off, there are many civilizations during the middles ages. All of these civilizations began and ended at different times and they all had different ideas and people. During medieval Europe, there was a lack of culture and literature but the Ancient Greek and Roman civilization were way head on technology back then.

The Renaissance was a period in time where everything started to change after the middle ages. During this historical period humans stared evolving by becoming smarter and inventing useful recourses that have changed the world. The renaissance was a life changing period which brought more joy to the world after conquering the dark ages. The Renaissance changed man’s view on the world by using Art, Science and Literature to make humans brighter and because of the rapid information they were gaining. Art during the Renaissance grew rapidly because of Leonardo Da Vici, and Michelangelo who changed the way people painted and drew by creating strategies which made art more interesting.

This period of time was known as the "Dark Ages" because of the decline of education, literature, and art. Life in the dark ages was miserable because there were little or no advancements, education became a commodity, and learning was not a main goal. After the fall of Rome, Western Europe had sparse advancements. This led to Europe getting semi-cutoff from the rest of the world.

The Dark Ages consisted of invasion, and loss of trade and government. “The barbarians have broken through the ramparts. The Saracen [Moors] invasions have spread in successive waves over the South. There is no longer any trade, only unceasing terror...society has no longer any government,” (Doc. 1). These problems led to the decline and therefore this period of time was named the Dark Ages.

The phrase Dark Ages may refer to the historical time period that was originally used for the Middle Ages. The term came about five hundred years following the fall of Rome. During this time Rome and other surrounding cities really broke down because of different invasions from barbarians who were from northern and central Europe. Since there was no real authority with the power to really protect any of the citizens in these cities, the population declined tremendously at this time. Because of the lack of authority the development of the feudal system greatly suffered.

When using the work “dark” to describe something, the first thing that pops into mind is of something that is dead, has no value, and just something that is overall terrible. Thinking of the Middle Ages as the “Dark Ages,” it makes one think that tragedy occurred during that time period; however, that is the complete opposite as to what the Middle Ages really were. In the early Middle Ages, even though not much happened, people all over the countries were filled with life, when thinking of the Middle Ages as the “Dark Ages” one wouldn’t think that; therefore, the “Dark Ages” truly isn’t an appropriate term to describe the “Middle Ages” as a whole. Calling the Middle Ages the “Dark Ages” is insulting what people were achieving in that time period. Many get caught up in the fact of that time period being dark, when in reality they should be looking at the many progress they were making after.

The trepid world filled with monsters, horrors and nightmares coming to life begins in the medieval ages. This is a fictional story which has different geography and mankind 's origins. Humanity originated after a cataclysmic event in which monsters also originated from this event. Literature review The paper Perception of Europe throughout the Ages will focus on what was seen as Europe, starting with the ancient Greeks, continuing with the Romans, the Byzantine Empire, throughout the Middle Ages until the Renaissance, where the sense of Europe as a cultural cohesive entity took shape.
