In the article, “The Perfect Name for the Next Generation of Americans,” Mary Meehan explains that generations all have distinct characteristics that influence their attraction to products, and these characteristics come from the events that those generations’ experience, which are often established in the generational names. Mary Meehan develops this by giving examples of events/characteristics in other generations’ lives, and how those events correlate to the generational name and traits they have today. Sustainability practices are done all over the world to try to improve people’s lives for the better. Well that was the case with a Philadelphian girl name Alyssa Ramos-Reynoso. Alyssa was homeless for about three years, staying over friends house and having to sleep down in the subway. She didn’t have the support system she needed and she did everything for herself. Eventually she graduated from Arcadia University in 2013.

Imagine, if you will, being stripped of all power within your life. Everything is now in your partner’s control, and you are submissive to them always. The article “Teens Against Hitler” by Lauren Tarshis shows the challenges of a Jewish family during World War 2 and how a young teenager rebelled against the Nazis and Hitler. In 1939 in the city of Warsaw Ben and his Jewish family were rounded up and forced into Warsaw’s ghetto. Later, Ben joined a partisan group and fought the Nazis and Hitler. This was a great act of courage but came at the price of his family’s life.

How does one become a man? Have you ever wondered if you are truly a man? In the novel, “The First Part Last,” the main character, Bobby, wonders if he would ever become a man. Bobby is a sixteen year old teenager who was careless and impregnated another teen named Nia. Bobby decides to raise the baby himself after the mother goes into an irreversible vegetative coma.

Osh, a character from Beyond the Bright Sea by Lauren Wolk, would be the best partner on a deserted island because he is a strong caregiver, quick thinking, and resourceful. Osh has proved to be a strong caregiver, which makes him a worthy partner to be stranded on an island with. At this point in the story, Osh is talking to Crow about the challenges of raising her. He didn’t want Crow to be taken away from him so he would go above and beyond to keep her protected and content.

The First Part Last is a novel about this teenager named Bobby and how teenage pregnancy affects his life. The story goes from then to now every chapter and, and at the end of the book, the then and now meets up. Bobby Impregnates a teenage girl named Nia (his girlfriend). The story talks about how they make it through this rough time. Near the end, Nia starts to get eclipse, which girls have a chance to get when they are pregnant.

Arthur from "The Seventh Most Important Thing" by Shelley Pearsall demonstrates the traits of kindness, forgiveness, and curiosity. The reasons I personally think this is the case are that he was very forgiving to his mother, even though she threw out his dads belongings that meant a lot to him, and I think he is kind because he still does things for his mom. I think that he is also curious because even though he doesn't have to, he still wants to learn more about many things in his life. Farming hasn’t always been as easy as it is today. Back in 1875, life as a farmer on the prairie was very difficult. The idea of Manifest Destiny is usually glorified, however, there were many challenges that go unmentioned. Little League Competitiveness Are children suppose play sports to be competitive or play sports to have fun? This is a question asked by many who have children of their own or the question is asked by others who are watching these children play. One person who thinks children should play sports to have fun instead of playing to be competitive is Jessica Statsky. Jessica Statsky wrote the article “Children Need To Play, Not Compete” and in this article she argues why it is better for children to play for the fun instead of playing to compete to win. There are many communities who believe everyone is a winner and rewards kids with a trophy whether they win or lose and others just forget the season if they lose and do not give their players a pat on the back.

Summary “Children Need to Play, Not Compete,” by Jessica Statsky is a thoughtful insight on the competitive sports for children. She is of the view that the competitive sports can ruin the enjoyment that games are supposed to provide. These methods of playing the games like adults can prove to be lethal for physical and psychological health. In her essay “In defence of the iGeneration,” Renee Wilson argues that today’s technology has benefitted not only the students, but also the generation as a whole. The advancement in technology allows for change, innovation and creativity that result in one of the best generations yet. Although Wilson generalizes today’s iGeneration, she succeeds in providing a compelling argument. Much of her argument is supported by scientific evidence and personal experiences that demonstrate the ability of the iGeneration to accept change and provide self-actualization. Wilson’s use of generalizations reveals a degree of disconnect between the current iGeneration and previous generations.
