There is a little bit of history behind getting the Crazy Horse Memorial. Henry Standing Bear (Oglala Lakota chief) wanted sculptor Korczak Kiolkowski (sculptor of Mt. Rushmore) to build the Crazy Horse Memorial in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Henry Standing Bear’s brother even demanded that Crazy Horse’s head be next to the presidents on Mount Rushmore in a letter, but he never got a reply back. Soon after that Henry started a campaign to have Crazy Horse’s head put onto Mount Rushmore, but the campaign failed and Crazy Horse’s head was never apart of Mount Rushmore. Henry then sent another letter to Kiolkowski saying that Native Americans also have heroes. Then he wrote a letter to undersecretary, Oscar Chapman of the department of the Interior, stating that he will give all of his 900 acres to get the barren mountain so he could make the Crazy Horse Memorial. The National Forest gave Henry the land. On May 3, 1947, Kiolkowski came to the Black Hills to carve the monument of Crazy Horse. On June 3, 1948 they started doing the blasting for the monument. The Crazy Horse Memorial is a non-profit undertaking. When the memorial is finished it will be the biggest mountain carving in the world. Mount Rushmore can fit in just the head of Crazy Horse. The complete size will be 641 feet long and 563 feet high. Even though the monument is not finished
First, the Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield is noted down as one of the six prominent national parks of Missouri. In order for a place to be considered a national monument it must be historically significant in the United States of America. Once this is determined by the national government it will then be made available and kept up to par for any people who wish to visit it. The President Lincoln and Soldiers Home is considered a national monument because of its popularity amongst the Presidents, specifically President Abraham Lincoln, throughout the years and because it is one of the first places to be considered a home and provide services to veterans who have served for our country. Given its importance in the history of our country it is essential that one be informed of the reasons it became considered a national monument in the year 2000.
The Appaloosa has a very interesting background, many different characteristics, different uses for the modern world, and has very well changed of the course of time. The Appaloosa horse had originated from the spotted horses and the Mustangs. “The spotted horses probably arrived in American with the Spaniards in the 16th Century and they eventually reached North America”(Animal-World “Appaloosa” 2015). After reaching North American, the Nez Perce Indians got a hold of the spotted horses and the Mustangs.

However, these monuments are history and although they may not be suitable for a public place nowadays, they are sure a great piece of history for a museum. These monuments are part of all that is left from a certain period in our history. These monuments should be saved for the sake of knowing about the past, not for personal gain. Some monuments can stay in public for everyone to see.
