Organizational structure dictates an organizations way of arranging roles and people. This structure is arranged in a way to get the best work as efficiently as possible. In smaller companies face to face communication is the norm and formal structure may not be necessary. In a larger company with various layers thee must be very clearly defined lines. Leaders are responsible for the ultimate outcome even if they are not performing the everyday tasks. Leaders determine how to use resources including people. These decisions and process create the organizational structure to meet goals.
In most large organization like Best Buy, it is necessary for employee roles to be clear and include their responsibilities and who their managers are. It is also important to remember responsibilities belong to a role and not to a person. In larger companies, centralized structure allows for more definitive decision-making. With a centralized structure, it is fairly simple for a company to change with growth.

Everyone likes to be rewarded for their hard work. A higher than normal starting wage tells an employee, we value you. Providing a generous benefits package also makes employees feel the company values them and wants them to have the best care possible. 1. Introduction to Organisational Structures The Organizational Structure within a company determines the way in which an organization’s operational activities are performed. Some of the main operations defined within an organizational structure include the allocation, supervision, and coordination of how a project is to be completed. The organizational structure will determine how tasks are performed during a project and who the tasks are to be performed by. The organizational structure also states who will manage or oversee the project and the processes or protocols that will be implemented during the time frame of that particular project.
Walmart’s compensation strategy is mostly using base pay that follows the market rate. Employees get paid by hours they worked. Pay rates are different and depend on the job position and working department relative to the organizational structure. Walmart uses job evaluation systems to provide internal equity and determine the basis for wage rate. An organization that has a team or horizontal style of work structure and management is called as contemporary organization. Instead of a strict hierarchy, the power is spread out to the whole team in the contemporary organization. It is a more responsive and flexible. Traditional organization is changed to the contemporary organization of business. Although operating in many countries, Costco is heavily dependent on the U.S. and Canadian markets.
