In the story long way down by Jason Reynolds, Will, and Shawn are brothers and have to survive and fit in with the hood life, but they also have to be careful not to get caught in the cycle of violence that surrounds them. In the story, Will's older brother, Shawn, has the greatest impact on Will because he’s an older brother/ father figure to Will, and Will is struggling with the cycle of violence and whether or not to perpetuate it.
