Have you ever been judged by some and have gotten hurt? Have you ever judged based on their look? Well judging someone based on their look or appearance is not a good thing to do. In the book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick, with main characters Max and Kevin , the theme of the story is to never judge a book by it’s cover. To begin with, not judging someone by their appearance can be a little difficult especially if they look different or unique, like Kevin.
The book Monster by Walter Dean Myers is about a 16-year-old named Steve Harmon, who is on trial for murdering a man in a drugstore. The author shows that Steve is being judged by how he looks. How he looks shouldn’t matter because all of us are human beings; We all make mistakes and do things that are similar. First, the main idea of the story is that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.
A notable piece of evidence of this in the book was when Max narrated, “I just sort of reached down without thinking and picked up Freak and set him on my shoulders. ”This quotation highlights that Max did this because of Kevin’s medical condition. This means Kevin was more on the shorter side, and he couldn’t run well. This shows that Max was brave and kind enough to do such a kind deed and make such a big difference by doing such a small thing. After Max’s support, Kevin could see clearer and could help Max navigate better.
Max has his meeting with the principle, then soon after Freak chokes on food. Also, the novel and the movie both have or show Max living with Gram and Grim. There is also Freak naming the elements of the fireworks show while sitting on Max’s shoulders. They find Loretta’s purse in the drain.

Life is like a sports game. Some games you win, some you lose. In life, some days are full of conflict, and some are not. Rainsford faces man versus man, man versus nature, and man versus self conflicts in the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell. The first conflict is man versus nature.
One by one they climbed into the ring and beat him down. They made him bleed. They let him suffer." (Zusak 254). Max is struggling to understand that he's a Jew, doesn't understand why people hate him and why people follow Hitler.
Where the Wild Things are by Maurice Sendak is an interesting children’s picture book. The main character is a little boy named Max, who has a wild imagination. He uses all five senses as well as thought and his actions to express his personality as well as how he reacts and interacts with his surroundings. Max’s id, ego and super-ego are greatly shown in this book through the way that the author has portrayed him. Not only is this book a children’s story, but it can also be perceived as a life lesson.
Max then depends on Freak to tell him where to go, and just focuses on the ground. When Max’s father showed up in the middle of the night to “take Max with him”, Freak does the brave thing of helping the police look for his best friend. As the police find Max and his father, Killer Kane, Kevin stands up tall and sprays Kenny with a concoction that burns when it touches Killer Kane’s eyes. After the struggle is over Kenny Kane is arrested and is sent to jail for the murder of Annie Kane, attempted murder of Loretta Lee, and attempted murder of Maxwell Kane. Many friendships are formed by helping someone in need, like how Freak helped
