The film “The Seventh Seal” and “Wild Strawberries” are both Swedish films by Ingmar Bergman both created in 1957.
“The Wild Strawberries” is about a grouchy old man, Isak Borg, who is a doctor and he is going to be rewarded for his years of work, from time to time he dreams about his death or his wife, Sara who passed away, he has a son named Evald, who was married but now is separating from his wife, Marianne.
“The Seventh Seal” is different from the also 1957 film, a Knight name Antonius Block and his squire Jöns are heading home to Sweden from the crusades, but find their home country almost taken whole from the plague. Upon arrival (first scene of the film) he comes across Death. Now on their journey back home they come across Jof and his wife Mia, Jof & Mia although have small roles in the film play an important role, Jof can see visions of the Holy Family (Mary, Joseph & Jesus) but Mia is skeptical of his dreams. …show more content…

I want to start with ‘The Seventh Seal” because it’s supposed to be dated back to medieval era. Women during that times were condemned and punished more severely than their male counterparts. This film is very misognistic but this film shows a point that women can have many faces, Jezebels, Holy Mother or witches, but majorly infact they are deemed as evil but something the men cannot live without. Jön’s made a point with the Blacksmith that ‘its hell with women and its hell without women’ he also added “to kill them while its fun” and their conversation proved their views of women they seen women nothing more but “evil wenches”. Also to consider that ‘The Seventh Seal” is very anti religion and it shares it views in a way where it’s more beneficial to be a Man than a Man of
