The Nutcracker is an well-known fascinating Christmas story. The story has been around for many many years, so you can imagine how many versions exist. The original version of the story The Nutcracker was called: The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. The Nutcracker and the Mouse King was originally written by E.T.A. Hoffman, and was published in 1816. Almost 80 years after the fairytale, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, the first ballet version was performed in Russia. About 50 years after the ballet, Walt Disney’s movie Fantasia came out, he used some of the music from The Nutcracker and the Mouse King Ballet, and everyone was suddenly interested. Since then, many versions have been created but they all remain similar.
In ¨Of Mice and Men¨, directed by Gary Sinese, Lenny is seen differently in the book than he is the movie, in more ways than one. One way that Lennie is seen differently in the movie is when we get to hear the quality of his voice. Now that the viewer gets to hear Lennie, we can now see how much his disability really affects him. Another moment where you can see Lennie 's differences, is when he gets in a fight with Curley and crushes his hand. In the book you can 't tell his facial expressions, how angry he really is or what he does in that scene.
During this time Alvin was only 27 years old when the ballet had premiered. Some would say that this piece was one of Alvin’s greatest masterpiece. He had found his own voice in the creative artist he was presenting on the concert dance
The Nutcracker in a new, jazzy interpretation. Melody is defined as a succession of pitches in rhythm. The melody is usually the most memorable, creating an ear worm for listeners. The Nutcracker Suite has nine different movements, meaning that there are many melodies throughout the suite. One very recognizable melody to any listener would be that of Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies, or in this case, Sugar Rum Cherry.
Literature that stimulates the feeling of pity, sympathy and sorrow is Pathos. The two pieces of literature express pathos in different lights, showcasing a rollercoaster of emotions for the reader. John Steinbeck’s novel Of Mice and Men and Christie McLaren’s article “Suitcase Lady” both expose heartache and social inequalities to deduce the feeling of commiseration. The bleak hardship of life affirms the heartache through Lennie and the Suitcase Lady. Lennie is loyal to George and is terrified of upsetting his friend.
When seeking contrast between two different pieces of literature the themes can be used to find a shared message in the writing. “Of mice and men” by John Steinbeck and “To a Mouse” by Robert Burns share a theme of longing for a better life. In “Of Mice and Men”, the characters have a vision of the perfect life; it’s this vision that makes their misfortune so heartbreaking. In Robert Burns’ poem, his tone of envy towards a life without worry shows us he to has a vision of a perfect life: A life of
In John’s Steinbeck’s novel Of Mice and Men, it tells the story of two men, one is a leader, and one is a follower. They move to different places to find a new job and opportunities to carry out their dream. The opening paragraphs of chapter one and chapter six both convey one main idea, dreams and goals. The tone expressed in both chapters are different. Firstly, in chapter one, the tone is happy, hopeful, and positive.
In the movie, A Christmas Carol, there are many differences than the play. Some differences in wording could be a result of the actor messing up. The movie has parts included that are not in the original play. This could be a result of more modern technology. Most of the most important things are included in both.
We have read two books this year: ´Of mice and men´ and ´The curious incident of the dog in the night-time’. The books differ a lot, however they also share some similarities. ´ Of mice and men´ is about two men, named Lennie and George, who live in the time of the Great depression. They are looking for a job, but this isn’t easy because Lennie is mentally disabled so George needs to look after him the whole time.
An audience that is watching film that has been adapted from a novel always watches very carefully. The audience member who have read the book are concerned to see if any of the main elements of the book or scenes that the reader connected with, will be removed from the film or that the film’s plot will deviate from the original story line. Most audience do not realize that the production and shaping of a film is strongly influenced by the historical background of the time period. In the preparation of the film, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971), the director, Mel Stuart, and the production team had to evaluate the film to make it sure met the standards of the production code at the time of the production. Due to the political party
A Christmas Carol The story A Christmas Carol was written by Charles Dickens in 1843. A Christmas Carol is about a old man named Scrooge who only cares about himself and money. The dramatic contrast of dynamics between themes, pitch, chromatic harmonies and discords used in Night on Bald Mountain are still used in musical scores for horror movies. I remember hearing this music in Disney’s Fantasia and thinking, “Boy, do I need to run.” It still has that same effect. In the movie, Chernabog, the evil god, appears in the final segment of the film and summons spirits around the mountain. There’s not another score of music that could perfectly illustrate the final scene of Disney’s Fantasia than Night of Bald Mountain.
The book and movie that I read is called The Lion, The Witch ,and The Wardrobe. It was written by C.S Lewis, and the movie was produced by Andrew Adamson. The book and the movie were about this family who had to move because of Air Raids. There were two brothers named Peter and Edmund and two sisters named Susan and Lucy. They stay in a profferer 's house.
Even if you are not a fan of classic ballet you get involved in the drama they are presenting. This music made me think about royalty; music you easily expect to hear when a king and queen are present. In The Rite of Spring the music is different from the Swan Lake because is non-traditional, is more ethnic, and appears to be spontaneous,
On November 28th, 2015 I attended Ben Stevenson’s version of The Nutcracker which was being performed by the Houston Ballet at the Wortham Theater Center. The dance featured two separate acts and multitude of dances as well as a live orchestra. The Nutcracker demonstrated the ability to unleash a multitude of emotions as well captivate its audience with music composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky of the Romantic era, usage of modern technologies and techniques such as lighting and special effects, as well as its wide variety of dance types such as solo dances, pas de deux, and large group dances with a focus on a central figure or couple. Despite dance being the primary subject, it is necessary to note the performance of the orchestra of Tchaikovsky’s
Have you ever read Rapunzel? I’m sure you have because it is a classic, but you might not have read other versions of it that tell the same story but in many different ways. The Fair Angiola is one of these different versions, both Rapunzel and The Fair Angiola both share different aspects of what happened and also quite a few similarities. Although the “happily-ever-after” ending stays the same in both Rapunzel stories, the plot is changed in many irritating ways which makes for a very colorful and new read; including how the girls were taken and the escape of them with the prince.
