One of the biggest social codes has been race. For instance, the To Kill A Mockingbird, Scout was not really around black people so she did not understand all the pain and abuse that they went through compared to the white people. Atticus says “ You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view… until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it” (chapter 3). This quote and what Atticus is telling Scout is that she does not understand the people around her very well, especially the black people until she climbs into their skin and walk around in it. Race shapes who a person becomes by showing them what is happening around them and how people are being treated. If the person is exposed to race like Scout was in To Kill A Mockingbird, then maybe if she notices more, she will be able to do something about this problem and it will make her a better person. There was also a big problem with race in Night. Race definitely shapes who a person becomes. In Night, the Hungarian police are yelling at the Jews saying “ Faster! Faster! Move you lazy good-for-nothings!” (chapter 1). This shows that the Jews were treated very poorly because of their race. Race shapes who a person is because if they are getting treated badly, then they will think badly of themselves and will be like that for the rest of their lives. Gender is a huge social code that affects us all. Gender was used against Scout in To Kill A Mockingbird throughout the book. Aunt Alexandra says “It would be best for you to have some feminine influence” ( ). Aunt Alexandra said this to Scout because she does not think that scout is very ladylike. Gender in Scouts society shapes who she will become because most adults would probably force her to be more ladylike like other women, but scout does not want that. Gender in Night was different. All males who could work were separated from the women and that would affect who one becomes. When they were getting separated, a soldier yelled “Men to the left! Women to the right!”( ). This shows that gender had a huge impact on who the person will be because men were forced to work and women were sent somewhere else and would not work with the men. Men had to work to try to survive, while the women were most likely going to be killed. Gender definitely shapes who a person will become with what they had to go through to survive, especially in the book Night. The gender social code will shape who a person becomes by what they are forced to look or act like, or what they have to do, especially in To Kill A Mockingbird and
Essential question: How does environment shape who we are? The enviorment we grow up in has a big influence on who we become. The people around us like our friends and family often determin our opinions and difrent veiws on things. Our parents raise us with their opinons and their veiws, we tend to belive things similar to the belifes of who we are raised by. They pass on their religious belifes or how they dont belive in religon, what political party they vote for, and certin things they have opinions on.

The novel “To Kill A Mockingbird” was written in 1960 by Harper Lee in the point of view of a young innocent girl named Scout. One of the main messages that Lee has (need a new word than – indicated or set out) is racism, it plays an important role which strongly impacts many character’s lives unfairly and changes the relationship between two. Harper Lee’s “To Kill A Mockingbird” shows that it is wrong to hurt someone who does no harm to you, for example, black people are innocent but no way did they have as many rights as white people did. Black people lived hard lives because society was judgemental, irrational and most importantly, racist. As Scout and Jem grow older they learn to cope, take responsibility and are introduced to new aspects of life, one of which is racism.

The Thousand and one nights offers a unique perspective on the roles of women in that society. The roles of women are really interesting because they are treated different in numerous circumstances. On one hand, they are shown to be powerless, and on the other hand, some are shown to have absolute control. Throughout the beginning of the story, the status of women seemed to go from getting brutal and wicked treatment by men, to their ability to fight back, and then they are revealed as somewhat heroic. There are some major differences in how men and women are portrayed in The Thousand and One Nights.
Racism, family background, and wealth are the three main forms of social inequality that appear multiple times in To Kill a Mockingbird. The earth was created a billion years ago, made for human life to live on. Also, created to hold billions of people in a peaceful and good environment. In other words, that had never happened. For centuries many people have been racist and prejudice to others. As a result, wars, hatred, and protests broke out, because people thought they were better than others.
In To Kill A Mockingbird, the lesson of Atticus showing Scout that lying is alright sometimes is better shown in the novel rather, than the movie. The novel does a better job at executing the lesson because, the book allows for the reader to get on a personal level with the decisions that Atticus is making. Atticus is talking to Mr.Tate of the porch and says “Heck, If this thing’s hushed up it’ll be a simple denial to Jem of the way I’ve tried to raise him”(Lee 272). This is just a small excerpt from the books long conversation. The movie only allows the viewer to watch what is happening, while not as thorough.
The women in To Kill a Mockingbird have important roles but very few of them. Calpurnia is the black female cook for the finch household. However, she does not just cook.
