He even confronts himself in front of people, “I will be brief because I'm not going to live long enough to tell a boring story. Romeo, who lies there dead, was the husband of that Juliet. And she, who lies there dead, was that Romeo's faithful wife. I married them; their secret wedding day was the day Tybalt died...” (281-283). He secretly married Romeo and Juliet to each other while knowing they were from feuding families and their love was forbidden. Friar Lawrence also gave Juliet the poison to fake her death and avoid her marriage to Paris (213-217). Friar Lawrence wrote a letter to Romeo telling him that Juliet’s death was faked, but Friar John never delivered the letter. This made Romeo think Juliet was dead and made him freak out and panic. He stopped at the Apothecary soon after he heard the news about Juliet and obtained a poison that would actually kill him. This event made Juliet kill herself when she found out Romeo was dead, all because the letter that Friar Lawrence was meant to send, never got to Romeo. If the letter had been delivered prior to Juliet drinking the potion, they would not have committed suicide. He is not the only one to …show more content…
She was Juliet’s only true family that actually cared for her since she was born. The nurse cared more about the bond and friendship between her and Juliet more than being honest (127). An example of this is shown the day after their marriage when everything started to go downhill. Romeo was banished and the nurse already wanted Juliet to marry someone else. She always made things seem bigger than they actually were (157-163). When she was talking about the death of Tybalt to Juliet, she made it seem like Romeo had died and not Tybalt, which made Juliet scared, stressed out and panicked. She also kept the marriage of Romeo and Juliet a secret (121). She kept it a secret before and after the marriage by planning and being at the wedding, and by helping them get a ladder so they could spend the night together. The nurse was also very inconsiderate of Juliet’s religion. She was allowing her to do whatever she wanted, even if it was allowing her to marry two people, Romeo and
However, the people responsible for their deaths are Fate, Friar Lawrence, and Balthasar. Fate is the development of events beyond a person's control; therefore, Fate was one of the main reasons for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths. They were considered to be“two star-crossed lovers” (Doc. A) meaning no matter what happens they are both going to die in the end.
Eventually, Friar told Juliet he has a solution to prevent her from marrying Paris and reunite her and Romeo. Friar Lawrence also makes a somewhat persuasion to Juliet about the vial before she makes the decision. Another reason Friar Lawrence is to be blamed leading to the death of Romeo and Juliet is because Lawrence is the one who gave Juliet the potion to fake her death and send a letter to Romeo about their pluck the mangled Tybalt from his shroud / And, in this rage, with some great kinsmans bone / As with a club, dash out my desp’rate brains'' (Shakespeare 4.1-53-55)
To begin, Friar Laurence and the Nurse’s decisions are to blame for Romeo and Juliet's deaths. Furthermore, Friar Laurence is one of the characters responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence decided to give Juliet a bottle of poison. He said “Take this vial, being then in bed, And this distilled liquor drink thou off;” for Juliet to use to appear dead. (Shakespeare 4.1.94-95)
The nurse comes back and tells Juliet that Friar Lawrence is going to marry them. When Juliet comes home from getting married, her mother brings her news that she will be getting married to a rich man named Paris. When she refuses her father, Lord Capulet threatens to throw her out if she didn't marry Paris. Later on in the story six people die including Romeo and Juliet. Whos the blame for Romeo and Juliet's deaths?
When the two lovers find out that they can’t be together they end up killing themselves. The nurse and Friar Laurence are ultimately responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet. Some people may say that Romeo and Juliet are responsible for their own deaths. There are many reasons why someone may say this. First, people may believe that Romeo and Juliet rushed their relationship because you can’t truly fall in love in a few days.
However, Friar Laurence was unwise to have given Juliet the potion before confirming with Romeo and sending Friar John with such vital information instead of delivering the letter to Romeo personally and making sure he got the letter. When Romeo found out Juliet was “dead” he was wrecked because although they were not together for long he stilled loved Juliet. He was so devastated, he took his own life to be with her, “Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die” (5.3. 120). Romeo should not be blamed for being deeply in love.
She is the only person that supports their marriage just because she wants them to be happy. The nurse helps Juliet out of pure love, and is the steady, supporting mother figure in her life. She is the least selfish and most mature character in the play. In Act II, Scene V, Line XXVII,
When Juliet wants to take her own life, he says he has a solution “That cop’st with death himself to scrape from it; and, if thou darest, I’ll give thee remedy” (4.1.75-76). He does not stop to console Juliet or help her calm down; instead, he hastily thinks of an elaborate plan. The friar gives Juliet a potion to make her seem dead. While death is a very somber and serious event, Friar Lawrence does not consider any other option than Juliet faking the end of her life. He decides to convey the dark message to Romeo with a letter and when Romeo does not receive it, the friar is very distressed and says, “The letter was not nice but full of charge of dear import, and the neglecting it may do much danger” (5.2.18-20).
Once Juliet found out that Romeo was dead, she stabbed herself. Even though Friar was going to marry her to Paris, he wasn't his wish, it was her parents wishes. Friar Lawrence gave her the potion to fake her death so she didn't have to marry Paris and could get to Romeo. His intentions were good, but Romeo found out to soon and the plan backfired. Even though someone might think the Friar Lawrence is at fault.

From The Simpsons to Taylor Swift, Romeo and Juliet, one of the most well known romances in the world, has influenced popular culture even centuries after its creation. Written in the 1590’s by renowned playwright William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet is the classic love story of star-crossed lovers Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet. The descendants of warring parents Lord Montague and Lord Capulet, Romeo turns to Friar Lawrence and Juliet to her Nurse for guidance. With Friar Lawrence, Romeo and Juliet find a way to be with each other that, unfortunately, leads to their suicides. While some may say the Nurse is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths, Friar Lawrence is truly at fault for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he encourages
William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet tells the story of two star-crossed lovers that come from feuding families and secretly get married, but ultimately meet their tragic end due to a series of devastating events. Some might blame Romeo for killing Tybalt which led to his banishment or the family feud for making it impossible for the couple to be together openly, which led to their secret marriage and their deaths. Others could point out that Juliet's parents controlling behavior led to her death. While all of those may have contributed to Romeo and Juliet’s deaths, ultimately the most blame for the tragic ending should go to Friar Lawrence because he abandoned Juliet in her time of need after her husband's death and he suggested a very dangerous plan to fake Juliet's death and risk her life, which led to the young couple’s deaths. Friar Lawrence bears the most responsibility for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet due to his abandonment of her after her husband’s sudden death.
He had given Juliet, who was begging for help, a small vial containing the liquid that would fake Juliet’s death. When the time had come, he depended too much on Friar John, and Romeo received the wrong news. Romeo had thought that Juliet was dead and went back to Verona with a bottle of poison to kill himself. Quickly, Friar Lawrence ran to stop him, only to find Romeo dead and Juliet waking up.
While there are many different characters in this play, the Nurse is a prominent character shown in most of the play. She works with the Capulets, and most closely Juliet. On the outside, the Nurse seems like an innocent, caring woman that puts her job first before anything else, but you all would be wrong. The Nurse had been a loved and quite useful member of their family, until now.
Romeo and Juliet’s marriages were important as they were the only child of their families. This may be the cause of the tension between juliet and her parents relationship. Juliet’ mother is not a caring mother. The nurse was the one who raised juliet hence, Juliet’s mother still treats Juliet like a child and did not get to spend more time with Juliet as much as the nurse did. Juliet probably finds the nurse more mother-like than her own mother.
