Short story journaling two
The two stories I read, are the Sniper and The Scarlet Ibis. In both stories the brothers lost someone dear to them. In the first story, The Sniper. The republican sniper was typing to get rid of the Free Stater Sniper, but when he did, he found out that he had just shot his brother. Because the Free Staters and Republicans were at war. Families were divided , brother fought brothers, and Fathers fought their sons. The next story I read was the Scarlet Ibis, the relationship between the older brother and Doodle was strong but yet also strained. It was strong because of how close they were and how they helped each other out. It was strained because the older brother kept pushing Doodle to harder then what was necessary. In conclusion, you can see that both relationships were at fault cause both brothers lost someone that was dear them.

The difference in the irony between the two stories is who they are fighting for. The sniper is fighting for his own survival. The censor is fighting for his survival and the survival of his friend. In this essay, the irony in “The Censors” by Luisa Valenzuela, and “The Sniper” by Liam O’Flaherty have been compared and the similarities to the irony have been made evident.
The brothers of the protagonist characters in The Sniper and The Scarlet Ibis both had s difficult relationship with each other. The Sniper, the brother that was a sniper, shot hit brother in war. The sniper in the story did not not know the man he shot was his brother. I would assume the brother and the sniper did not have a good relationship if they were on opposite sides. The other story, The Scarlet Ibis, a brother had something to do with the death of his younger brother Doodle.
In " The Sniper" and "The Scarlet Ibis" the protagonists have weird with their brothers. In the story "The Sniper" the protagonist shoots his brother who is on the opposite side of the civil war. There are stories about characters having a brother who has a deep effect on them which could be because the characters care for their brother. Two stories that are about this are called “A Brother’s Crime” and “The Scarlet Ibis”. Inside “A Brother’s Crime” is about Edwin Booth, the brother of John Wilkes Booth, learning about their brother’s crime and has to deal with it. The story “A Scarlet Ibis” is about how a brother has pride in their own little brother that ends badly because of how that pride has good and bad. In “A Brother’s Crime” and “The Scarlet Ibis”, the actions of a brother had a profound effect on one of the main characters.
Doodle, exhausted and still weak, trotted behind Brother but in spite, Brother ran away from Doodle. Perhaps it was what Brother needed, to abscond from the thought that the pedestal he had placed himself on was fumbling and frail. Doodle cried out to his brother to not leave him and tried to run after, but he tripped and couldn't get up. Brother left Doodle out in the rain and the storm that pounded and thundered away at Doodle. When Brother’s anger and spite evanesced, he stopped and waited for Doodle and eventually went back to his younger brother.
Brother has received a younger sibling, though he is not the brother of his dreams. Brother feels disappointed in his invalid brother, Doodle, so he teaches him to live a fuller life. In the book, “the Scarlet Ibis,” Brother is occasionally cruel, but as he teaches Doodle, he learns to love him, and his end justifies the means. Brother is cruel to Doodle.

One day, they were running through a storm and the normal one left his crippled brother back. When the brothers guilt finally drives him back to get him, he has already passed.
In this short story “The Scarlet Ibis” depicts the relationship between two brothers. A story, that filled me with sadness and tears as I was reading it. As I contemplated the relationship between big brother and Doodle, the pride, cruelty, and selfish behavior that big brother portrayed was cruel. Reading more in depth into the story, I couldn’t help myself, I felt horrible for Doodle. Pride and malice play a big part in this story.
The story "The Sniper" was about the civil war and how families were split between the sides. There are two snipers battling on opposite sides of the street. One shoots the other in the shoulder then he kills the shooter. When he is going back to camp he looks to see who it is and was his brother. To summarize both stories were about the love between the
