Compare and Contrast: The First Avenger and Man of Steel
A famous quote from Zeno of Citium reads, “Man conquers the world by conquering himself.” This statement emphasizes that in order for a hero to conquer evil he must find his inner self. This idea of a hero conquering evil is fundamental to the romantic archetype in romance because it relates to good conquering all. The First Avenger corresponds with phase three of the romantic archetypes. Evan’s found himself alone in the modern world where he was not recognized as a mighty individual. Evan’s physical quest begins when he is called up as Captain America taking his strength, leadership skills, and positive attitude to battle against Germany and Red Skull. The physical quest sparked when he was injected with the serum and given the strength to defeat any enemy. Captain America's quest was promoted when he disobeys the orders of Chester Phillips and goes out to save the lives of the struggling soldiers, this is the end of innocence and the beginning of the quest. Through their friendship Bucky learned about Rogers secret identity but promised to keep it a secret if he could be his sidekick. Evan’s and Bucky kept each other motivated throughout the quest to save the world. In Man of Steel, Jonathan Kent made a huge impact on the quest, Clark conquered. The death of Clark’s father assisted him throughout his journey because it allowed him to see the true meaning of sacrifice. The loss of his father also taught him the significance of his abilities. Clark became more protective over his powers and saved them for when they would be need most. Both quests follow the romantic archetype phase three but overall Man of Steel’s was more significant than Captain
William B. Clark was one of the infamous Copperkings in Butte, Montana. As a matter of fact, Clark was the most powerful, and influential of them all. Even though today there is not much people who still remember him, he was one of the most important figures in the 19th century. He won fortune in Western Industry, achieved power in politics, and rose to fame as an art collector. Clark belonged to an age (1839-1925) when corruption, power, and money usually meant the same.
The year after his wife’s death in 1820, Clark married Harriet Kennerly Radford, a widow with three children, and fathered two more sons. A generous man, Clark served as legal guardian for Sacagawea’s children, cared for numerous relatives, and offered assistance to religious groups, missionaries, explorers, and travelers. On the other hand, Clark treated his slave York harshly upon their return from the expedition, although he claimed to have eventually freed him. While in the military, Lewis met Clark, the captain of the Chosen Rifle Company, where they became friends and admirers of each other. Lewis chose Clark even though they had only known each other for six months. Lewis felt Clark could be helpful in places where he wasn’t the strongest.
Also, William was born in Caroline County, Virginia, and when he grew up he fought like his brother. Moreover, William Clark was a creative person, he was never formally schooled, nevertheless he was successful. Since he was formally schooled, he did more creative/adventurous things, For instance, he joined the army, and went on an exploration. These things show that he is adventurous, if he wasn’t adventurous he never would have gone on the expedition, so it is important that he had that trait. He was also respectful because even though Lewis was very different from him, they never argued.
His work inspired many others to follow in his footsteps and created great interest in the region. William Clark was very enthusiastic and friendly towards the new people that he met while on the expedition. In comparison to Lewis, Clark was also a very skilled man. Clark was a great cartographer, even though his maps look to us today to be a bit crude, he had an incredible instinct and feel for the landscape. An example of Superman’s super strength would be when he is fighting the bad guys and picks up cars and other heavy objects to use as weapons. Even though both heroes share the power of super strength, Superman possess other attributes that are unique to only him. Superman has the ability to fly anywhere he wants. An example of Superman flying would be when Superman is flying around to help save the towns people during a fight with the bad guys. Superman is also immortal, unlike Beowulf.

Iron Man has a lot of courage because he defends his country without any obligations. Iron Man said: “I still love my country, Nick and I fight for it… in my own way” (Iron Man). He fights with his intelligence, not his muscles. They are considered as heroes because they are so courageous. They do not need an army to fight off the enemy.
