Declaration of Independence and the Declaration of the Rights of Man have many similarities some of their similarities are that they were both created by rebellious groups, they were both influenced by the Enlightenment ideas, they were both created by movements that started because of high and unfair tax, also each of declarations were upset and wanted to change high taxes, taxation without representation. Lastly each declaration had the same demands of freedom of speech, freedom of religion, fair and equal trial, fair and equal tax, 1 of 3 inalienable right, and redefined and reconstructed government. In the Declaration of Independence it states “we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal” and with about a third

The United Sates has operated under two constitutions. The Articles of Confederation was effective in 1781, and The Constitution which replaced the Articles in 1788. These two documents have much in common, but they differ more than they do resemble each other. The primary difference was the Articles of Confederation was an agreement establishing the United States of America as a confederation of sovereign states. Otherwise, the US Constitution is the supreme law of the United States of America, also a constitution embodying the relationship of the federal government with the states of America and the citizens of the US.

The Declaration of Independence was a document that freed the colonies from Britain. After the French and Indian War the British put out a new control called the Proclamation Line of 1763. The Proclamation Line of 1763 didn 't allow the colonies from settling west from the Appalachian Mountains. Another act that King George III put into place is called the Stamp Act. The Stamp Act is a law that required that the colonists buy and place tax stamps on many kinds of documents.

During the Revolutionary War, Congress developed the first constitution of the United States, known as the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation was drafted in 1776 and 1777 and was then approved by the states in 1781. Although the articles of confederation were weak, it managed to survive the war years. In 1787, a convention was held to rewrite the Articles since the resulting government was weak, that’s when the U.S Constitution was written. The powers given to the federal government in the U.S constitution and the Articles of Confederation differ.

After reading the U.S Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and Thomas Jefferson’s Letter to the Danbury Baptists in 1802. I realized that all three of these documents have common signers and Thomas Jefferson as the creator of these documents. God also plays a major role in these documents. As mentioned in the Declaration of Independence “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness (Declaration, 2016, p. 1)”. This document, which was created, first in order to assure our countries stability states that our country has been built on God, and it united the thirteen colonies.

Historians agree that the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution serve to secure the rights of American citizens, while others say that it does not affect the rights of American citizens. For instance, without the Declaration of Independence, technically, the United States would not officially be separated from Great Britain. Both of these Documents were created with the mind set to provide the foundation for a unified, centralized government. Even though the confederation only lasted from 1781-1789, it was still seen to be valuable with its belief that sovereignty belongs to every state. After the Confederation ended in 1789, the U.S. Constitution took place bringing the states together as a whole. While these two documents have the needs of the nation in mind, they both do have quite a bit of a difference as well.

John Locke was a philosopher and political scientist. He had many interests and produced a number of writings that influenced future leaders. One of these leaders was Thomas Jefferson, who was involved with the aid of America and the act gaining independence from Britain. The Declaration of Independence and Locke’s views on government contain many similar aspects.
