Compare And Contrast The American Revolution And The Civil War

In this paper there has been a discussion of the legislation and the tensions preceding the southern Secession. Based on this discussing it can be concluded that the tensions, which culminated with the Civil War, were present many decades before the secession itself. Even threats of Civil war and secession were present much prior to this particular conflict. 
This paper has also concluded that the threat of Lincoln was real to the South, because of the Republican party’s very distinct foundation as an anti-slavery party. Slavery was a soft spot in the South because of the substantial value slaves had.

The United States gained its independence in 1776. After that, the United States struggled with numerous tariffs and compromises that can be arguing to be the cause of the civil war. With the gruesome acts of slavery in the south, it show that the north and south have been fed up and was begin to tear apart. The rise of political parties contributed to numerous political beliefs and ideas.

The Civil War was a war between the divided United States. Although it may have been to “preserve the Union”, the underlying problem of the war - a problem that had been simmering for years - was slavery. Lincoln had been cautious at the beginning of the war to not upset the border states, but near the end he added the emancipation of slaves to the Union’s war goals. Part of the reason that the North won the Civil War was due to the number of resources that they produced, the release of the Emancipation Proclamation, and military leadership.

The Civil War was the result of uncompromising differences between the free and slave states over the power to prohibit slavery in the territories that had not yet become states. When Abraham Lincoln won the election in 1860, as the first Republican president on a platform promising to keep slavery out of the territories, seven slave states in the deep South seceded and formed a new nation, the Confederate States of America. Military during the Civil War was off, but equalled out in terms of stats, North having better leadership and South having better weapons. As the United States expanded westward, two new territories were created from the issue of slavery in the United States. During the time period of the Civil War in America, there were many differences between the two regions of the North and the South. Each had strengths and weaknesses, involving resources, military experience, etc.; however, the North had more strengths and less weaknesses than the South, as they eventually won the war. Many battles were fought, and one can’t help but wonder, what could have changed this result? And what would have come from a Union defeat? On April 12, 1861, the Civil War was a war fought to determine the survival of the Union or independence for the Confederacy. Abraham Lincoln, elected as the President representing the Republicans, supported the banning of slavery in all the U.S. territories. The Southern states viewed this as a violation to the Constitution, therefore, seven slave states formed the confederacy before Lincoln’s inauguration. Efforts for compromising failed, therefore both sides were prepared for war. Although, there may have been many different discussions on the underlying causes of the start on the war, it has been proven that the causes made the war in the end inevitable.
