Paul Revere (January 1, 1735 - May 10, 1818) was a Patriot in the revolutionary war remembered for his self-less ness and his most famous accomplishment, “The midnight ride of Paul Revere.” He was a great leader and role model in the beginning of our new nation. On the night of April 18, 1775, a patriot leader in Boston, Joseph Warren hears word about an attack on Concord, where patriots were keeping arms and also where patriot leaders John Hancock and Samuel Adams were staying. British troops were marching to Concord to destroy the arms and capture Hancock and Adams. Warren sends Paul Revere to warn Samuel Adams and John Hancock.

The British were trapped at Yorktown, Virginia and British General Lord Cornwallis surrendered 8,000 British troops (Citation). This was a tremendous victory for The American Army!

The battle of Bull Run or Manassas took place on July 21, 1861. Both the Union and Confederate armies fought near Manassas Junction, Virginia, in what was the first battle of the Civil War. The fight began when 35,000 Unioners marched from Washington, D.C. to fight a troop of 20,000 Confederates stationed along the river of Bull Run. After hours of fighting, Confederates were able to unite and break through the Union’s right flank, which sent the Federals rushing back to Washington. The victory had given the South a boost of confidence and outraged Northerners.

The Battle of Hampton Roads: Monitor Versus Merrimac The Battle of Hampton Roads forever altered naval warfare despite ending in a draw. While the introduction of ironclad technology saw many changes to warship defense and gunnery, neither ship decisively won. This draw actually benefitted the Union in the Civil War effort.

There were a few key battles that helped to influence the outcome of the war. The outcome of the American Revolutionary War influenced the United States way of Freedom and the way the American people live today.

No one knows who shot first, but the battle would only last seconds before the colonist would flee towards Concord. After deserting the town, the Americans sprang a trap on the confident British and would make them take heavy losses. The British would lose roughly 300 while the Americans didn’t exceed 100. After the incident, the delegates at another Continental Congress would declare the colonies in a state of defense. The hope for this was to gain a majority of support from the colonist and even other countries.

In addition to capturing munitions, the British soldiers were ordered to capture Samuel Adams and John Hancock who were wanted for high treason against the crown. Upon arriving at Lexington, the soldiers were met at the town center by numerous armed minutemen. It is not known who fired the first shot, but the colonists were in full retreat after a brief battle leaving left several dead behind. The British continued their journey on to the North Bridge outside Concord.

Also when he died, he died with the title of the patriotic leader of the Green Mnt. Boys. He was remembered for taking the British fort at Ticonderoga with Benedict Arnold on May 1775. The Battle fort at Ticonderoga was the first battle ever won by the americans, in the Revolutionary War. Then he moved to Vermont after the French and Indian War.

The colonies also called for a continental congress, in the first meeting they made decisions basically defending themselves from anything Britain could possibly throw at them: military preparations in case the British in Boston chose to attack, boycotting in hopes of abolishing trade with Great Britain, rejecting a colonial union under British control, the basically wanted nothing to do with Great Britain because Britain abused their power over the colonists to begin with. The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the official turning point for the colonists, they had colonists prepared with guns, minutemen, that were ready to fight at a seconds notice and they kept close eyes on Boston just in case the British chose to attack. William Dawes and Paul Revere were keeping watch for any British movement. When the British came the colonists were ready and by the end of the battle the British had lost many of their troops in this revolutionary war. This war was definitely the beginning of the fight for independence for the colonists, thy showed the British that they could stand up for themselves and that they deserved better treatment.

Paul Revere shouted throughout his midnight ride, “The Regulars are coming!” He was an American Patriot in the American Revolution who lived in Boston at the time. His lifespan was from 1735 to 1818, during the American Revolution. One of his famous quotes was “In Medford, I awakened the Captain of the Minutemen; and after that, I alarmed almost every house, till I got to Lexington.” Paul Revere is important to history because if he didn't warn Lexington about the British, America itself might not be known as America.

The Battle of Saratoga in September and October of 1777 is the turning point of the Revolutionary War because the French joined with allies, British troops surrendered their arms, and the Patriots had crucial victories. It was a victory for the Patriots in the American Revolution and is the most decisive battles in history. The Battle began as a plan by the British to control New York and isolate New England from the Southern colonies and put an end to the Revolution. Which ended as an opportunity for the Patriots.
