Sociology somehow can also be define as the study of development, structure, and functioning of human society. Sociology requires more than of common sense to make sense in a society. Sociology aims to provide objective knowledge of a social phenomenon in order to cope with social issues in a society. Sociology, therefore, offers insights into these issues in order to reveal the questions of humanity, also the changes and transition that humans goes through. As a sociologist, Andre Beteille have said, social science is primarily being conduct upon certain legal guidelines, the research technique and how the data is collected. It’s emergence become prompted by the methods of natural sciences, and within that perception, that society can only be studied through legal guidelines. Only then, sociological research is much coherent and the findings may be generalized unto certain extent. Hence, not all sociological finding is revolutionary. Many findings eventually seem to agree with common sense. In relation to this, one way that a sociologist can find out whether a belief is true or the other way round is by systematically test the common sense belief against facts. Therefore, in order to accomplish this, sociologists designed various types of sociological scientific research and
Common Sense vs. Declaration of Independence The intention of both political documents, Common Sense, written by Thomas Paine February 14, 1776, and the Declaration of Independence, written by Thomas Jefferson July 4, 1776, is to separate the governing of the thirteen colonies from the tyranny of British King George III. In contrast, Paine is persuasive and opinionated, while Jefferson is factual and laying a defense for battle. In comparison, both make their feelings known, examine the issues at hand, state the reasons for the issues, and offer the same solution. Common Sense is a lengthy document presenting the ideal of American independence.

Sociology is a broad term, because there are many different words that associate with Sociology including family, relationships, media, gender, and crime. While sociology is all around us, a common place where we might witness ideas that come from sociology is right at home on our televisions. Common Sense Common Sense is an inspirational and very intellectual pamphlet written by Thomas Paine about American Independence. Paine begins his argument by stating his personal beliefs on government and how it should be run. As the pamphlet continues on he begins to write about the specific situation that the colonies are in. First Paine starts off by defining the difference between how a society runs, and how a government runs.
The purpose of this book is to explore various avenues of the existing ‘Age of Fact’ and the urgent role of the social analyst to integrate the particular history, biography, and social structure of humankind. According to Mills, the sociological imagination is to be aware of the idea of social structure and to use it with sensibility. He noticeably believes that the sociological imagination can only initiate and direct the individual towards the synoptic internalization and realization of social, cultural, and political realm, which would assist the social researcher to transform the understandings of his scientific experience. Subsequently, he validated the social-science study through translating the private issues to public issues.
Common Sense was written and published by Thomas Paine in 1776, during the early years of the American Revolution. Common Sense contains Paine’s commentary on the interaction between Britain and the then-British colony of America. It is widely agreed that Common Sense was a major contributing factor to the increased morale of the American people and heavily motivated the colonists to fight for their rights. Perhaps one of the most famous chapters in Common Sense, Thoughts on the Present State of American Affairs directly discussed the reasons that America needed to break away from British rule and become an independent country.
Introduction Great thinkers, including Plato and Aristotle opened the doors to studying society; they based their thoughts on creating an “ideal society”. The science of Sociology was later developed in the early 19th century by Auguste Comte, who coined the word “Sociology”. He began to study society, using “critical thinking”. Comte believed that only by really understanding society could we begin to change it.
It allows sociologists to find a way through the big abstract picture of society that does not allow any research. It helps to bring the focus down to a more manageable
a. Sociology is the study of the social relationships that affect the humans as well as institutions. It involves many fields of study that include crime, religion, family, race, culture and society among others. It is the primary purpose of sociology to provide linkage to all of these different subjects to help in understanding how humans behave (Smith, 2016). b. Sociological enquiry is the careful analysis of the motivational factors as well as the behavior of a certain individual within a particular group of people. The primary objective of sociological inquiry is to reveal an understanding of the social world that is readily observable.
it builds on the sociology of knowledge by studying about the real- ities of everyday life. Here, the issues are addressed by following an empirical method, rather than an empistemological or methodological, like Mannheim. They consider the sociology of knowledge to be part of the empirical discipline of sociology. (p. 10)
Wright Mills is one of the most prolific sociologists who spoke widely about the Social Imagination, penning a book of the same name. The Social Imagination looks in detail about the ability to look at situations from varying perspectives and the ability to differentiate between an individual problems (person troubles) and that of a society (public issues). (C.W. Mills, The Social Imagination) Sociology is a science, which uses critical and analytical thinking alongside objectivity, which results in proven theories, and is studied as part of an academic field, at the end of which one can gain substantial qualifications. Common sense, on the other hand, is not an academic subject, the dictionary definition of common sense is “good sense and sound judgement in practical matters.” it is the human ability to understand and judge things that are viewed as being commonplace to most people.
It includes the need to understand the past events; the connection to the society in which we live in and personal life experiences in a particular setting with define values and customs. Sociological is an important element as it allows the society and individuals to relate to various circumstances in their daily activities at local and international levels that are paramount to them. The lack of ability to relate to these situations individuals would be unable to perceive the societal elements that affect them and thus cannot make the changes that would be essential in their lives. Throughout history, different countries have obtained various levels of social imagination and thrived. However, some are yet to experience it while others have already lost it.
In today’s modern society, everyone is largely affected by society. From multiple social institutions like the government and economy for instance or even the effects of education and mass media; these all play a huge role in an individual’s relationship, behavior, and actions in their society. For an individual to understand things like a “culture” or why every society has a ‘social class hierarchy,’ they will be directed to “Sociology”. Sociology is the systematic study of the structures of human society and social interaction. Sociology attempts to understand how things like society, social events, interactions, and patterns influence the way humans think, act, and feel.
Sociology is the scientific study of human social relationships and interactions. Sociology 's subject matter is diverse. Subject matter for sociology ranges from the micro level of an individual and interaction to the macro level of systems and the social structure. At the society level, sociology examines and explains matters like crime and law, poverty and wealth, prejudice and discrimination, schools and education, business firms, urban community, and social movements. We can see these subject matters crystal clear as sociology ranges from crime to religion, from the family to the state, from the divisions of race and social class to the shared beliefs of a common culture and from social stability to radical change in whole societies.
