In the article Common Mistakes in Growing Alfalfa author Eddie Funderburg Describes several mistakes that people make when planting their first crop of alfalfa. These include mistakes in site selection, soil selection, seedbag preparation and planting, and remembering the alfalfa. When selecting a site, make sure to avoid hilly, rocky ground, shallow soil, and eroded soil. Most thriving alfalfa fields are located on a level, bottomland site with no potholes. If the planting site does not look like this, do not expect much from your crop. Also be wary of soil that is infertile or acidic. When selecting a site, do pH tests on the soil. The pH should be above 6.5. If your soil is too acidic and you cannot afford to fertilize your alfalfa a lot, then do not plant alfalfa. Make sure that you prepare a good seed bag. If a seedbag is not smooth and free of large clods, then it is not good enough. A drill must be used to plant the alfalfa. Do not use a till. Once the alfalfa is planted make sure you check on it at least weekly. There are many insects and animals that can eat up …show more content…
Schwartz discuss their experiment that measure the biological effects of music, pink noise, and healing energy. There were 3 experimental groups, healing energy, musical sound, and pink noise, and one control, an untreated set of plants. The researchers measured the effects by counting the number of seeds sprouted out of groups of twenty five. The number of seeds sprouted was counted at 12 hour intervals over a growing period of 72 hours. The researchers found that musical sound had a “significant effect” compared to the control group. They also found that there seemed to be no significant difference between seeds that were exposed to pink noise and the control group. This means that musical sound had more of an effect than any other
In the book “Opening Skinner’s Box”, Lauren Slater discusses many complicated ideas relating to certain experiments of recent times. In every chapter, she focuses on one specific experiment and poses many controversial thoughts. One of the chapters I found most interesting was the second chapter titled “Obscura”. In it she walks readers through the experiments of Stanley Milgram and questions the purpose, results, usefulness, and morality of the experiments. To begin, the purpose of the experiments seem to be off to me.
The data observed and recorded in this lab shows that the concentration of miracle gro’ does affect the growth rate and germination speed of black eyed peas. The data is shown through two graphs and two data tables. The control group in this experiment is the seeds with a 0% concentration of miracle gro’, therefore the seeds with just water. The experimental groups are different concentrations of miracle gro’ including a 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30% concentration. The variable in this experiment is the amount/concentration of miracle gro’.
Abstract: The purpose of this experiment was to determine whether the amount of topsoil would influence the growth of radish plants. It was hypothesized that if the amount of topsoil increased by 50% would increase because topsoil contains the essential nutrients which are required for proper plant growth. The principle findings indicated that a medium amount of topsoil is ideal for plant growth as the radish plant potted in 50 ml of topsoil experienced the most growth in comparison to the radish plants potted either in 25 ml or 200 ml of topsoil. Introduction: A healthy layer of topsoil comprises of a mixture of clay, sand, silt, and humus that supply the plants with vital nutrients, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and other necessary
To have a healthy plant with good roots, you must cultivate the soil.

Consider: 80% of stimuli that reach our brains come in through our ears” writes Dr. Mitchell L. Gaynor, author of the book Sounds of Healing, and director of medical oncology and integrative medicine at New York Hospital 's cancer-prevention center. The fact that music can play a role in increasing the production of endorphins leads me to believe that there has to be some affect on your mood after listening
