Colonial Williamsburg's Capitol Analysis

The New York colony soil was fertile and great for farming which was the reason the British wanted to remove it from the hands of the Dutch. New York was named after James the Duke of York. The Dutch were the first to settle in New York but then was preccoupied by the English in 1674. When the Dutch occupied New York they called it New Amsterdam.

The Magazine at Colonial Williamsburg holds the gunpowder, weapons, and army uniforms. The importance of this is that they many wars back then. If there were to be no Magazine, Americans would not have a safe place to store their weapons, meaning the British Marines could come around any time, take the weapons, and leave. That would leave the Patriots with no weapons, and no way to win the war or gain

In the Common Era, students are taught about historical moments in early stages of the United States becoming what it is today. Some of the more notable historical moments included learning about the Triangle Trade, the Boston tea Party, and the American Revolution War. When students learned about all these memorable events in history, they are never going into the actual details on how the colonies survived and funded these events. Let alone funding, students realized the amount of desire and passion put forth by the founders to rise against Great Britain. Looking back in time, without in depth knowledge of this time period, going against a country as powerful as Great Britain was a suicide mission.

Mount Vernon is a commemoration to George Washington’s legacy and was a place he took refuge in. In the years that George Washington owned Mount vernon, he took pride in his plantation, so much that he refurbished and expanded it several times. One of the key features in Mount Vernon is the piazza. Standing at two stories high, the piazza was built by George Washington in December 1783.

Each building deserves a commemorative coin, but only one can be selected. By studying all the four structures, the one most deserving of a commemorative coin is the Magazine. During the Colonial times, the Magazine had many significant effects.

In the center is the best spot because then the people don’t have to run across town to get a weapon.

It also still has value and relevance today. A motto it connects to is “That the future may learn from the past”. It’s not out to the realm of thought to think Washington could have taken power of the new county, and its far to say that it would have been welcomed by the American people. But Washington did not want to go from one monarchy to another. He believed in the people should have a say in their government if they were going to be taxed.

Being the only church in the area, it was the place where many historic heroes and figures went to worship. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, to name a few. What was very exceptional was that it was the only church that these people went to in during the Revolutionary War. Since Colonial Williamsburg was the Capitol (before it was moved to Richmond), it was where many Virginians lived, and since the Bruton Parish Church was the only church

Colonial Williamsburg shows what life was like for everyone back in colonial times. We can learn a lot from their structures such as the Capitol, the Magazine, and the Governor`s Palace. One of the most important buildings was the Bruton Parish Church. This historical church definitely deserves a commemorative coin because everyone then had to attend service once a month, it still offers service to this day, and it relates to the motto, “That the future may learn from the past.”

The Capitol helps provide an education for scholars today. The students can walk into a replica of the Capitol and strongly understand what this building meant to the colonists. Also, with historical experts to teach them, there is no way they could not understand how important this building was to the colonists. Therefore enhancing knowledge of anyone who walks into this building. Scholars need an education in history, and what better place to learn it than where it actually happened.
