Cold War liberalism was an important way of thought and political belief that began at the end of WWII. This term was used to describe liberal politicians who believed in achieving civil rights and inclusion for all non-whites, but they did not want to take political risks to achieve this. Though Cold War Liberalism helped America in certain ways, it did not satisfy all the demands of inclusion. Cold War Liberalism specifically encountered problems with race, class, and gender. In terms of race, Cold War Liberalism only supported the Civil Rights Movement to a certain extent and it most certainly did not support the Black Panther Movement.

Soviet Union: What Should Textbooks Emphasize? The Soviet Union, or the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), was a transcontinental country that ran under an Authoritarian Communist regime. It was established by Vladimir Lenin in 1917 after the fall of the Russian Monarchy, and officially became the Soviet Union in 1922; The USSR eventually collapsed at the end of 1991 due to destructuring of its centralized government. The history of the Soviet Union is rich and can be difficult to break down. Trying to grasp the Soviet Union’s description for a textbook can be done by separating it into three categories.

After World War two the U.S. and the Soviet Union initially had an ideology and political rivalry between the United States and USSR that gave way to the start of the Cold War. This period was known as the Cold War because there was no large-scale fighting between the two superpowers. The Cold War impacted more than world events and U.S. foreign policy, It impacted U.S. domestic policy and American society because after WW ll the U.S. decided to spend 64% of the money more on military defenses than education. They had also taken away the freedom of speech, took away passports, it was a struggle for Paul during this time in June 1956.

The Cold War lasted decades and tensions continued to heightened. Trepidation spread among American citizens about the future of their country and world. Would communism take over or would the United States stand their ground and push for democracy? Following the Second World War, the Cold War caused the American people to fear the growth Communism, an economic depression, and a possible nuclear war, yet the Eisenhower Administration successfully addressed these concerns and implemented ways to reduce these fears. First and foremost, the American people feared that communism would spread and take over governments in other nations beyond the Kremlin.

Canada has many factors that cause it to be the strong and independent country it is and is seen as today. The cold war is a factor that shaped Canada’s independence and why people see Canada as such a strong country. Canada joins the U.N( United Nations). The U.N was created Oct 24, 1945. The U.N is an organization of countries that work together to prevent war, improve living conditions in other countries, defend human rights etc.

The Progressive and Oppressive Era America After World War II ended in 1945, the United States economy flourished but was quickly launched into the Cold War with Soviet Union. Despite a lack of actual combat, the Cold War led to the advancement of new technology as both countries tried to best the other. This new economically prosperous and technologically advanced era created a new American society, full of “unrivaled prosperity with crippling poverty, expanded opportunity with entrenched discrimination, and new lifestyles with stifling conformity” (American Yawp 26.1). The Cold War was an ongoing state of political and military tension between the United States and the Soviet Union. This constant state of tension and fear had been embedded deep in the American public.

he first chapter of The Cold War: A New History begins by comparing the United States to the U.S.S.R. and talking about the similarities between the two. It also talks about Communism and how Marx deemed it necessary in order to build up the economy. Lenin tried to implement Communism in Russia. They were not quite ready for that kind of system, so Stalin tried to modernize the economy. The U.S.S.R. had more casualties in World War II, but things were not necessarily looking great in America either.

Some historians believe the Cold War was inevitable because of the hostilities from both America and the Soviet Union after World War II. America believed that the USSR was an expansionist country trying to spread an evil, communistic idea throughout the world. Although the countries never directly fought against each other, as they only fought in proxy wars, there was still extreme conflict. The United States responded to the Soviets actions in Germany, Europe, and their national actions. These responses were justifiable, or so many Americans at the time believed.

Then you must come up with any reason possible to make it justified, but sometimes not everything can be justified. For example, a person murdering a random person they have never met before and do not know, can’t be justified. The actions that the U.S took during the Cold War are similar to this, as they weren’t always justified.

Even though the Cold war ended, the influence of the Soviet Union didn’t. The Soviet Union grew out of the Bolshevik revolution and Civil war in 1917. The USSR was officially established in 1922. So what should textbooks emphasize about the Soviet Union? Well i feel that the three things that a chapter on the Soviet Union in a school textbook should emphasize the Culture, their military, and their economy, now let me explain why.

Just as Russia had an opressing leady, Cuba was controlled by one as well.

The United States and the Soviet Union had differences over issues such as human rights, individual liberties, economic freedom, and religious belief. After the WWII Soviets dominate European countries and thought the U.S. had the same motives.

At the time when the Cold War ends, hope rise again for a creating a utopia of peace. However, the rise of global terrorism brought people back to reality. Over the past decades terrorism have created chaos, numerous casualties and tragedies. Therefore, terrorism problem has been a major factor in international security issues. Studies about terrorism help us to understand the origin, goals, motivations and behaviors of terrorism organizations.
