In the articles “The Secret Life of Tiger Woods” by Wright Thompson and “Are parents ruining youth sports?” by Michael S. Rosenwald both concept the sacrifices one has to take to be an “elite athlete”. I firmly believe that the sacrifices taken to become an “elite athlete” are not ultimately worth it in the long run because of the injuries and health management. To support this, the author from “The Secret Life of Tiger Woods” proclaimed “...he fell down in his backyard without a cellphone and had to just lie there until his daughter happened to find him.” This quote the type of pain Woods lived through because of all his intense golf training. Furthermore, in the article “Are parents ruining youth sports?”
Coaching is teaching and as coaches our goal is to impart self-assurance, motivation and rational strength in our athletes (quote book). At Clear Choice Coaching we concentrate on coaching soccer, basketball, tennis and football, we want to be able to provide all of our clients we encounter the ability to thrive. We have followed many elite programs throughout the United States and we found a common theme and it was no matter the sport, coaches use trial and error until they find trial and success ( quote book). This experimental stage coach’s use is what we call the intellectual part of coaching our sports. We see the need for our coaches to have an understanding of the significance of leadership and being able to instruct our athletes to becoming effective performers and dealing with them individually, helping each one to develop and maintain a winning mentality.
The primary thesis in Starn’s book is how much more attention Tiger Woods sex scandal received than it should have. Tiger Woods typically lives a low profile life, but after the sex scandal, the media is all over his personal life. In the book, Starn talks about how Tiger Woods had a hard time when it came to identifying his ethnic background his race and class status. All three of these played a role when it came down to playing sports.

When you look at me, what do you see? Do you see a harder worker, or a dual sport athlete? Well let me put myself in your shoes and tell you what I see. I see a young man who is dedicated in everything he is involved with such as school work with a 4.0 and sports basketball and football. I have a hard work ethic in school and sports.
Sports and athletes play an important role in the lives of Americans today. In the HBO documentary “Sports in America” we see just that. Over generations the interest in sports has spread from young children to adults and elderly, experiences are shared and cherished. Within this documentary there were four areas of interest that were discussed (greatness, heroes, community and game change). This dissertation will briefly describe some of the defining moments in sports that have changed the lives of many individuals.
In the news article ‘’Tiger Woods Apologizes for Irresponsible and Selfish Behaviour’’, written by Mark Herrmann in 2010, explains Tiger Woods’ selfishness and the consequences of his behaviour. Tiger Woods apologized about his selfish behaviour in public in Florida. He stated that his behaviour changed who he really was and ruined his self-respect in society. In his opinion, he thinks that he has worked hard his entire life and deserves to enjoy temptations. He had affairs with women, which caused him to go to rehabilitation.
When someone would ask me about the sports that I play, I would tell them, “I play golf.” Now this does not occur much in high school, but when I was young, mentioning golf would bring upon remarks involving old people and for non-athletic kids. Hearing this was depressing as golf was the sport that I loved and enjoyed playing. Nonetheless, I kept playing golf and played on the golf team in ninth grade. That’s when I found out that, unlike Alice, competitive golf was not right for me.
If employees are not familiar with the company’s goals and what the company is expect from them they won’t be able to perform good. Successful organizational culture requires a team work. Johnson should establish the espoused values of the company. These are the stated values and norms that are preferred by the company (Kreitner, 2013, p.63). Johnson should set the basic assumption which values employees (Kreitner, 2013, p.65).
As a child and an adult Tiger Woods had a close relationship with his father, who significantly influenced him as a person and golfer. “As a young boy, Woods learned to play golf. His father, Earl, served as his teacher and mentor” (Tiger). Tiger’s father shaped him as a person and an athlete, he was his greatest influence and inspiration. Without his father’s guidance all throughout his life Tiger would not be the person he is today.
So I went to the website ProCon.org. Being an avid golfer the website ProCon.org suggested, “Golf – Is it a Sport?” caught my attention. Already family and friend’s have deliberated on whether golf is as competitive as professional football. Intrigued with the challenge of supporting that golf is a sport through academic research from scholarly journal article, I had found a topic encompassing my greatest passion.
Despite this contention, only 2.8% of these players individually consulted a sport psychologist, while only 29.6% perceived their own ability to be psychologically well prepared for competitions as very good. These results suggest a definite need for sport psychological services (67.5% of the players indicated a great need or need for psychological skills training sessions), as it could hold value for performance improvement within the sport. The introduction to sport psychological skills training at the junior and sub-elite levels of sport primarily falls within the responsibility of the coach (Gould et a]., 1999). Within the South African context, however, 84% of teachers who coach at the secondary school level have not received any training in sport psychology (Le Roux & Pienaar, 2001), resulting in players who do not possess sound foundational skills required for optimal performance. In addition to this problem, no information exists on the sport psychological skills of junior rugby players in South Africa.
They should also improve their current skills and grow with the company. 14. • Institute an action plan, and put everybody in the company to work to accomplish the transformation. That the organizations should work with commitment to implement the change.
Men, women, children, old people, mother, father, son arrive at the same golf course and play equitably. It is golf’s nature to bring people together. The whole group can take a walk together and have a little chit chat about how to play the game. There is no competition so there is no loser and no one is going to be embarrassed. image 2
