1. Provide a summary for the video (minimum 100 words). This video begins in a classroom setting. The teachers seem to be drilling information from the students. The teacher makes the students quickly recite the words given and spell one word. Then, a child is shown site reading. While the child is reading, the teacher/instructor is keeping track of if and how many errors were made. She also kept track of how long it took the child to read the given paragraph. The next thing in the video, they interview a young student and ask him why he enjoys the directional education methods that they use in the classroom. He says he enjoys it because he gets to read a lot. Another child is interviewed about the directional method and she spoke about how today when she read, she read aloud with no errors as opposed to the day prior when she had three errors. In this video, a woman explains that this method does not target competition between peers, but it make the students more aware of themselves and the progress they are making. This approach focuses on the children spending more time in their art class and having more art materials to work with than usual. The children observe each other’s’ motives, their personal feelings and pure concept of what they heard (it can be a basic form of their fabric design). The Dumbing Down Of Society Even though the people of Fahrenheit 451 have an easy lifestyle, technology is the main factor that is making that society dumb. The reason being is that here are new inventions constantly being created or updated to make our life more simple. As a matter of fact, it makes us lazier because we no longer have to think because a mechanical device is doing everything for us. I come to class with excited feeling and joy to learn and work with children and staff in this class. I dress appropriated clothes and comfort to work with children all day long. I avoid absences and spend as much as possible time in class to learn and be with children. I get used to the classroom routine schedule and ask with my colleague and teachers activities and events that occur between children that I don’t understand. I remain positive attitude in the classroom all the time.
This is where we see the most budget cuts happening. When budget cuts happen, the first programs to go are usually the art programs. It's sad because art programs tend to be the most therapeutic for children. This was a powerful essay. Half of the piece of paper was a short story called, “Sam the Snowmen”, and the other half was questions the child had to complete about the story.
