Circular Black Pool Lab Report

This week we went to the Conodoguinet Creek. While we were at the creek we did many different things. One of the experiments we did was the Critter Count which was my favorite. Another experiment we did was the Eutrophication Tests. The last Experiment we did was the bobber test.

Testing phase finds differences in positive/negative documents by the centroid obtained in training phase by ranking each of them. The simple way to estimate similarity between documents and centroid by summing weights of patterns which are in the documents. VII. Experimental Results To determine accurate measures of similarity or difference between documents you depict results by graph pattern and table pattern. In this lab we were trying to figure out if Salt Creek and Barker Lake had the correct chemical balances to sustain catfish for the years coming. In order to find this out, we tested the water using a Hach Water Testing Kit. Inside were dissolved oxygen reagent powder pillows 1, 2 and 3 which we added and mixed into our sample water to prepare it for testing. Then we added droplets of Sodium Thiosulphate Solution into the prepared water too see how much dissolved oxygen parts per million were in the water. Our independent variable in this experiment was the 5 different testing sites that we went to for water samples.

K.D.A. Saboia et al. , (2007) have been prepared the Bi4Ti3O12–CaCu3Ti4O12 {[BIT(X)–CCTO(100-X)]} composite powders through solid state reaction method and calcined in the range of 900 to 1020 ºC for 12 h. The as-prepared powders have modified in the form of thick film onto alumina ceramic substrate by utilizing screen printing. At 100 Hz, the value of dielectric constant (κ) of CCTO100 and BIT100 is 316.61 and 53.64 respectively. Conversely, the composite with X=20 % shows an unexpected dielectric constant of 409.71, which is around 20% higher in comparison with the CCTO.

Paramecia does not pose any health or ethical concerns and the population can be maintained if there is a food source such as Enterobacter (Biological Foundation 7).

Discussion PV92 Gel Electrophoresis Results: Through the usage of gel electrophoresis the correct allele for each sample was able to be determined. Lanes one through three in the gel,were the positive control lanes they contained the PCR cocktail and a known high-quality template for the PCR reaction. First lane contained the sample with the +/+ allele, which had two copies of the ALU repeat allele. The first lane had a band at about 941 base pairs.

The lab started off by measuring critical materials for the lab: the mass of an an empty 100 mL beaker, mass of beaker and copper chloride together(52.30 g), and the mass of three iron nails(2.73 g). The goal of this experiment is to determine the number of moles of copper and iron that would be produced in the reaction of iron and copper(II) chloride, the ratio of moles of iron to moles of copper, and the percent yield of copper produced. 2.00 grams of copper(II) chloride was added in the beaker to mix with 15 mL of distilled water. Then, three dry nails are placed in the copper(II) chloride solution for approximately 25 minutes. The three nails have to be scraped clean by sandpaper to make the surface of the nail shiny; if the nails are not clean, then some unknown substances might accidentally mix into the reaction and cause variations of the result.

In this experiment, a virtual program designed to demonstrate the swimming of a virtual fish, was used. This program is called SWIMMY. SWIMMY was used in this experiment to determine the circuits that are used in the movement of an animal. This is done by presenting the neurons and the neural circuits in a body which can allow and show the movement of the fish’s tail virtually. The movement of the fish tail occurs by the activation of motor neurons.

Rationale The cell membrane, also called the plasma membrane is found in all cells and separates the extracellular side of the cell from the cytosolic side (Cell membrane (plasma membrane), 2023). The purpose of the cell membrane is to communicate with the cell’s external environment, to contain the cell’s contents and to control the transport of molecules in and out of the cell. Diffusion is the passive movement of molecules from an area of high to low concentration.

The purpose of this lab was to test the effect of pollution on algae growth. Through a series of experiments that lasted a month, four of the six hypotheses were proven to be correct or partially correct. The first hypothesis stated that if 0.5 mL of salt was added to algae, then the algae would grow slower than the positive control. This was proven correct, as shown by the difference of the data from the positive control and the container with 0.5 mL of salt in it.

Leah Romero 10/30/2017 Conclusion Lab 3 Chem 102L In lab 3, fundamentals of chromatography, the purpose was to examine how components of mixtures can be separated by taking advantage of different in physical properties. A huge process in this lab was paper chromatography, which was used to isolate food dyes that are found in different drink mixes. The different chromatograms of FD&C dyes were compared to identify which dyes are present in each of the mixes.

The objective of the sludge lab was to determine how many different pure substances were in the sludge by using the methods and techniques we have learned throughout the year. We had to pick separation methods so we could separate our sludge and then test characteristic properties on our separated liquids and solids. This experiment made us use our knowledge on characteristic properties to pick the ones we should test to help us identify our pure substances. Characteristic properties are properties that help identify a solid or liquid. Each solid or liquid has a certain density, boiling point, solubility, flammability, so if you know what each one is then you can use that information to help you identify your solid or liquid.
